Agree 100%. People who still say it's not about recruiting are idiots. There is a reason why schools like Alabama and Ohio State have freshman that contribute immediately. They recruit guys that are physical enough to play immediately.
While there are some diamonds in the rough and some projects that work out well, the higher rated recruits usually do better. When you're a Big 12 team that finishes only ahead of Kansas in recruiting, there's a reason they're usually the only team we finish ahead of most years. If you fans fail to see that, you're ignorant and/of too much of a homer. Bottom line is recruiting needs to pick up or Rhoads will never win more than 7 games in a season.
No kidding, genius. You are not a troll, just dumb.
Bottom line, complaining about recruiting at Iowa state is stupid. It is one of the hardest jobs in college football. The weather works against us. Small natural talent base. Local competitor (with better tradition) with whom we have to compete. Recruiting will ALWAYS be difficult here. Who do you think we are? Seriously, who? We have no tradition, crappy weather, are a million miles away from places that do have talent. Who do you expect we will get???
If Paul Rhoads can't sell it, it can't be sold. The sooner you get that through your thick head, the better. This isn't about accepting mediocrity or a defeatist attitude. It is freaking reality, slapping you upside the head. You can whine and wish all you want, but we aren't getting upper level recruits to come here on a regular basis. Iowa can't do that and they have three top-8 finishes in the BCS.
None of those guys at UNI had high-major offers, or they wouldn't be at UNI. We will ALWAYS have to take risks on guys. We will ALWAYS have to look for diamonds. That is the way it is.
******** about recruiting is lazy because it is easy. Check out emaw after the k-state loss. They were complaining about Snyder and his recruiting. Look at WVU's site after their win. Complaining about their recruiting. And you know what? Recruiting to either is easier than to ISU. So shut up already. Some times you win, sometimes you lose. And if you are ISU, you end up on one side more than another. If you can't accept it, get the **** out of here. I am so tired of this crap. Rhoads will coach up the ones we have. Will we win them all? No. But it is the best we got. Sack up or ship out. Good riddance to all of you "wah, wah , recruiting sucks, *******."
Sorry. End of my rant.
