Paul Clark on KXNO

Like I said should he say "well the basketball team I going to be horrible so don't waste your money on tickets"?

Seemed pretty positive on basketball to me. Good interview with Hoiberg, too. Not really fair to hold hypotheticals against a guy when he didn't even say it. Reality is he didn't say a lot of what you claim. He didn't say J T S is a piece of junk, that's for damned sure.

So, if you're not a "hardcore fan" you're a bandwagoner?
I'll argue that ridiculous point.
31-34K season ticket holders- Lets say season ticket holders are hard core fans- Keep in mind some hardocre fans aren't season ticket holders but a lot of season ticket holders(corporate) are not hard core fans
10-12K- Hardcore fans that make it to games once in a while

That gives you our average attendance.

Now what do you call those above an beyond? Causal fans? bandwagoners? what. How do you define them?

Also, if Hawk homer John Hinton says this on KXNO there would be a **** storm on CF. But Clark says it and it's ok? Well it not ok to me.

My guess is many of his defenders pay for his website. Maybe they feel bad because they can get that info and more for free on CF?

I hope target market.
And unfortunately, they are the ones influenced by the bias in the local media.

This wasn't directed at me but I think there is a difference between casual fans and bandwagon fans. Casual fans are those who might watch a game or two on tv with a group of friends but doesn't invest a lot of time into following the team. Bandwagon fans actually follow the team until the season turns bad then they find another team to follow. Most people are casual fans.

Maybe you're a little more sensitive about this than you should be?

For someone who talks to ISU recruits for his website, I think its stupid of PC to talk badly about ISU facilities. If he's doing it on the radio who's to say he isn't mentioning these things to recruits when he calls them to get updates for his site?

Agree wholeheartedly. Plenty of casual fans and we probably get those fans to come to games once in a while. We need some of those band wagon fans to come aboard. bandwagon fans can turn into hard core fans with consistent winning. A lot of hok fans are like this. They jumped on board whe Hayden got things going and ride the wave for 20 years. Then sit quietly in the shadows fot 5-6 bad years then jump on board again. Look at how they do not support MBB.

Problem is we have never, ever had sustained success. Never. DMAc came close but he didn't do it. And that isn't a rip on DMac. I loved the guy but sustained success does not include 2-10, 3-9 and 4-8 seasons. Those are the seasons that the bandwagon fans jump off and find someone else.

As soon as I heard that Levy had taken over concessions at JTS, I knew where the problem was. Other than keeping expenses down, I have never heard of Levy creating a positive, customer satisfying catering/concessions operation at a facility. I honestly don't know how those jokers stay in business.

With the renovations and expansions to the concession stands the problem should be better this year not worse, right? What changed that is making it worse? A new concessionaire.

You do know he can't recruit for ISU right? Tha would be an NCAA violation. He asks questions as any responsible journalist can and will do. Questions like...
How did you like your visit?
What stuck out about ISU?
Where does ISU stand?
Why does it rank where it does?

Seriously, you need to read an update or two. And if you think a) Paul was trashing ISU or b) Paul would trash ISU to a recruit...you are not thinking straight.

Chris just picked Iowa's sorry *** basketball team to beat Iowa State this year. Same standards, or are you afraid to lose your toy badge for being a moderator?

I was wondering if a moderator of a competing site, should be openly calling out Paul Clark. One post was probably sufficient, but there were more. If you had left your comments to the content of the radio show and Paul's remarks; you'd have been fine. However, now you are going after people who do not agree and your last paragraph above cost you credibility in this thread.

Oh come on. You cannot honestly believe this crap. It's unfathomable that you would even suggest something so ridiculous.

You don't think anyone in Des Moines on a given weekend is thinking "well, maybe I'll go up to the Iowa State game this weekend"? Hearing this crap isn't going to help get people to the games.

Also, Paul Clark would never say anything like that if it was going to cost him CR Subscriptions.

The longer this thread goes, the more I am starting to wonder if that wasn't the intent of the thread all along.

I complained to JP about the concessions on last Monday's radio show - he said he is happy with Levy, and that they are helping ISU, along with Purdue and some other schools, with a more inclusive AD-wide marketing/promotion plan.
I don't know what that has to do with poorly-trained personnel and less-than-sufficient food inventories.
I would think ISU has the authority, after they run out of hot chocolate, soft pretzels, etc., at halftime, to order Levy to stock more for the next game...
