I listened to less than 10 minutes this morning and here is the information I got:

Iowa State fans don't center the game around the weekend.
Iowa State fans don't have many hardcore fans.
Jack Trice Stadium is a piece of junk.
Iowa State has no idea how to run concessions.
The Iowa State gameday experience sucks.
Paul Clark doesn't go to ISU games as a fan.

No joke, I actually thought this was the worst hawkeye homer yet on the radio this morning until I heard Paul Clark's name.

Now some of these things may be true but if you truly have the best interest of Iowa State in mind, you don't come out and say all of those. Why would people ever go if they heard the guy from Cyclone Report talk about how bad ISU's football gameday, stadium, fans, etc. are??

What a joke.

Not sure where you got some of this.

Paul said that JTS is a great stadium and there isn't a bad seat in the house, other than the first row of end zone seats.

He said that there are certainly some passionate fans that center their entire weekend around football games, but not as many as the programs to the east and west of us.

Ric was the one bagging on concessions (but isn't it the truth?), Paul said he's never bothered with concessions while at games.

And he never said anything about the game day experience sucking. Ric alluded to it. Listen to the podcast, if they post it.

I seriously wonder where some of you guys get the stuff that you whine about on boards like this. Its what makes me take everything on this board with a grain of salt.

Not really.
Iowa State has no idea how to run concessions.
Ok.
The Iowa State gameday experience sucks.
Not a chance. Have some of the best tailgating lots in the country!

Fine.

1. You need to go back and listen to the podcast. It was Paul that said JTS needs major renovations just to be an average BCS stadium. Sure he said there isn't a bad seat in the house but that is after he bagged on it for awhile.

2. He said that Iowa State fans generally don't center their weekend around the game and that only a passionate few do so.

3. This is Paul's show. The moderator says the concessions suck and Paul doesn't nothing but say "I don't know".

4. See #3. If this is Clark's show, maybe he shouldn't let Ric run his mouth about how bad Iowa State's gameday experience is. It makes ISU look terrible when Clark is supposed to be an ISU supporter (or maybe he is more like Deace and cares about $$$ only).

I was waiting for you to jump all over this- knew I could count on you!

Some guy just called in and thinks Burnham doesn't know what he's doing because he supposedly mentioned Oklahoma and the pistol offense. Are people really this dumb?

All of those things are true. Are we going to hang him because he's a realist? There is a huge difference between being an homer and being a realistic fan. I didn't listen so I don't know what he did or didn't say but the above things are all true.

Like I said, some of what he said was true but why say it? It hurts Iowa State.

Should he just say..."Iowa State probably won't win another game this year so don't waste your time and money going up to the games." That might be true but someone representing Iowa State shouldn't say that.

It's not going to cost them something ti hasn't already cost them. No one who regularily goes to games is going to hear him and go "Wait, JT isn't that nice? How dare they, I will never attend again." Recruits aren't listening to the show. It's just not that big of a deal.

Iowa State fans don't center the game around the weekend. He said that 40,000 do, but the remaining 15,000 don't. I think this is pretty obvious. Chances are, if you are on this message board, you are part of that 40k
Iowa State fans don't have many hardcore fans.
Same as previous point, about 40,000 hardcore fans, rest are bandwagoners. Can't really argue this point.
Jack Trice Stadium is a piece of junk.
As far as BCS stadiums go, it is clearly at the bottom tier. You really can't argue this either.
Iowa State has no idea how to run concessions.
This is 100% absolutely true. Nobody can argue this and it has been terrible for many years
The Iowa State gameday experience sucks.
They both said that the tailgating is top notch, but the in stadium experience is just ok and needs to be shaken up. Things that "didn't stick" need to move on.
Paul Clark doesn't go to ISU games as a fan.
Meaning he sits in the Press Box, as a member of the media...

Wow

You don't think anyone in Des Moines on a given weekend is thinking "well, maybe I'll go up to the Iowa State game this weekend"? Hearing this crap isn't going to help get people to the games.

Also, Paul Clark would never say anything like that if it was going to cost him CR Subscriptions.

telling the truth only hurts if you let and, dont fix the problem. Im sure this is the truth at many bcs universities. the biggest problem is people trying to compare ISU to top tier programs. because as of right now, we are not. we are comparable to the kansas, kstate, baylor, colorados, of the big 12. we could be missouri, okie state level in a few years... we will never have the money Nebraska, or Texas has... so comparing us to them in any aspect of stadium or success is not very smart. so compared to kansas, kstate, baylor, colorado, or missouri does our conessions and stadium suck?
