Pancheros v Qdoba v Chipotle

Chipotle and Pancheros are essentially the same, except that Pancheros tortillas are fresh pressed, but Pancheros steak is tough and chewy, so I call this a toss-up.

Qdoba is better than both, IMO. Their marinated chicken is very good, and like others have said, they actually have some different choices, such as queso and ancho chile BBQ sauce.

Of those, I've always been a Chipotle guy. However, it seems like recently, the meat quality at Chipotle has gotten worse. The meat seems fatty and chewy. Based on that, I've been getting to Pancheros more often and it is good.

Bandit is my fav.

If you're talking about 2005 maybe, when they used to load the burritos so big they used to burst, literally. Now there is barely any meat in them and when you ask for more they look at you like, 'huh?'.

My vote is for Chipotle. Also heard good things about Mr. Burrito in Ames and Pablo's in Waterloo but haven't tried them, anyone care to comment on those?

Pablo's is great, but like everything else in Cedar Falls, it's practically never open.

Last time I had Flying, I think the quality was as good as ever, but you're right about them skimping on size. They're just milking that bar close crowd. The line out the door of that place at 1:45 AM on the weekend is unreal. Mr. Burrito is decent, but they aren't open late.

Burrito's are actually a Mexican American invention for the most part...or so says Rick Bayless on his white-dude-Mexican-cooking show. Doesn't matter, they're good.

I've heard that too. It's still Mexican based cooking, and it's kind of sad that the main chain for this kind of thing in Iowa is better than the one based in Texas. Freebirds was good, don't get me wrong. They just weren't great.

Chipotle in Rochester, MN is perhaps the finest burrito shop in the world.

The Rochester Chipotles are for some reason MUCH better than other Chipotle locations. It was almost my favorite burrito place (behind the original Flying Burrito) before I tried the Valley West location and it was glorified Taco Bell.

Anybody remember the old Panchero's in campustown where the burritos were huge and only a few bucks? Oh man, those where the days... Now it seems like they are half the size and twice the price.

I was forced by my friends to eat Chipotle the other day... up until then, my hate for Chipotle was simply based on how everyone seemed to worship it and dismiss Panch. However, I can now say that the fresh pressed tortilla and mixed ingredients at Panchero's really DOES make all the difference. Now, perhaps I'm biased, because I eat there at least once a week, regularly fill punch cards, and follow them on Twitter.

That said, Chipotle's hot salsa is better than the one at Panchero's. But that's about the only area in which Chipotle wins.

Also, Panchero's is relatively small and was founded in Iowa while Chipotle is publicly traded and used to be owned by McDonalds - gotta love the underdog.

Also, I should give Flying Burrito some props... nothing quite like it at 2 oclock on a Saturday night.

Only time I've ever had an issue with stuff not being open is on Sunday's. Pablo's is a quality burrito though.

Moes is indeed very good, but I would still rank Qdoba above them for more choice. Chipotle and Pancheros would be below both Moes and Qdoba for me.
