Pancheros v Qdoba v Chipotle

Ive been meaning to try Bandit, need to get up there sometime.

FlyingB started slipping once they sold out, going to lesser and cheaper ingredients. Still better than the chain options though.

Sooooo... I tried Panchero's

My first impression was that it was cool that they pressed their tortilla and it definitely is a better tasting tortilla than the other burrito places. It is also bigger, which was helpful because I didn't have to ask to double-wrap it.

My second impression was that Panchero's are cheap *****. They wanted to charge extra for veggies and meat (no other place I've been to has done that). Wanted to charge extra for both beans (only place that does that). Wanted to charge extra for another scoop of cheese (again, no other place does that). I was getting ****** about Panchero's before I could even get to taste it.

Tortilla: Panchero's wins from the reasoning above, very very good tortilla

Meat: Very chewy, and looking at all of the meats, it looked like they were left overs from last night, or been sitting there awhile.

Rice: I am partial to the lime rice at Chipotle, I love the zest of it!

Salsa: Panchero's pico is the best among the burrito places I've been to. Their hot salsa is lacking heavily though. Not spicy at all. Moe's wins the salsa battle by far.

Grilled Veggies: Chipotle doesn't have the variety as Panchero's but at least Chipotle cooks them... very raw at panchero's which isn't terrible, just not expected.

Beans: Chipotle bar none.

Chips: Chips are good at every burrito place except Fighting Burrito but they chips at Panchero's was right up there and maybe even surpassed chipotle

Queso: Chipotle loses automatically because they don't have it anyway. But Panchero's versus Moe's and Qdoba, Panchero's wins the Queso battle by far.

Overall Taste: Pretty average among the burrito places I've been too. I would rank it dead center.

1.) Chipotle
2.) Moe's
3.) Panchero's/Fighting Burrito
....
5.) Qdoba

I don't know why all of the burrito joints don't use something similar to "bob". It makes it taste a lot better when one bite isn't all sour cream and black beans, and the other bite is all steak. Panchero's is my favorite due to the bob and tortilla. I do like Chipotle's steak and rice, however.

Chimichanga combo from Abelardos, I think it was $6.99:

I have some other photos from Abelardos that didn't turn out as well.

Gorditas from La Rosa on Forest, two with sides for $7.99:

These are hand-stuffed fresh made flatbreads.

Bought 60 tamales from La Rosa for an early morning (11:00 am) football game last year. Muy delicioso.

La Rosa is another place I need to get to.

Taco Andreas on University is pretty good.

Anyone else hear about Tasty on Douglas and 38th closing? As a Beaverdale resident and Tasty Taco enthusiast, I'm pretty bummed about it. Gotta putz over to Hickman and 86th now.
