OU Internal Emails Regarding Realignment

Isn't it interesting we never heard from these a-holes until conference realignment? This is a flagrant act of trolling us because we're the "most unfortunate" of the B12's members.

It's the equivalent of that half-wit avoiding all family functions until he gets a hot gold-digging trophy wife.

Until she shoots him in the head in football and he ends up going 4-8 every year! :biglaugh:

I am a troll who attends a university composed 93% of redneck hicks and 7% of people we tricked into coming here by getting them drunk to sign their admissions letter. I would try to be a normal, decent human being, but I : a. don't want to, and b. am afeared of what bubba gump wuld do to me if I did. Oh no! I hear banjoes! NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!! THE HUMANITY!!! MIZZERY IS AMAYSING! NO! NOT THE BANJOES!!!!

What I picture as a certain troll's internal monologue. Nailed it?

You know .... we never really liked you guys when you were in the conference, but we always felt we had to put up with you since you were sort of family .... kind of like the 32 year old half-wit mostly "special" second cousin who was always at the Christmas dinner picking his nose at the table. Now that you have quit on the B12, please also quit on all things B12 and get the hell out of here and go suck up to those cheaters in the SEC that will be sodomizing mizzou FB for the next decade.

If I don't know anyone in my family that fits that description, what are the chances that I'm that person?

That's some mighty fine reading and serves to squash this ridiculous notion that OU is committed to the Big 12-2-1+1+1-1.
Given up trolling SEC message boards already?
Got tired of them asking who/what/where is Missouri??

I'm sure you noticed the mighty fine reading from Missouri AD Michael Alden in his August 31 e-mail. Where he said, in a mighty fine way, "I know Dr. Deaton, myself and all of us at Mizzou are committed to working hard to keep the Big 12 a strong and successful conference."

I'm still working on which part of that mighty fine statement was actually a ridiculous notion - er, I mean a lie. 'Committed'? 'Working hard'? 'All of us at Mizzou'? Eh, I guess the whole thing turned out to be a big fat lie, didn't it?

Stan Scism - turn down your font size, man! And the guy who bolded his entire e-mail - what's up with that?

Seriously, it's like everybody who complained about stuff on here at CF decided to e-mail President Geoffrey about it. And then they couldn't spell or use proper grammar!

I did get a kick out of the 'Come join the MWC!' guy. And the fellow who claimed Iowa State and other conference members would love to have SMU and North Texas join the Big 12. It's fantasy land, I tell ya!

Deaton said committed well that ******* might as well have said " firmly entrenched " instead. Must have taken lie 101 from cheesdick!!!

I do not miss Misery at all actually I am glad they are gone. Have fun getting your butt pounded every week in the SEC.

What would you have him say in that situation? He's gotta make SOME kind of a statement.

"Dear Tiger Fans,

"As you probably already know, Texas A&M is leaving the Big 12 for another conference. And we are jealous as s***. This conference is like the roof of the Saigon embassy. We're all just waiting for the last helicopter to take us out.

"The Big 12 board of directors is committed to looking proactive while trying to avoid getting shivved in the back by another member. Nobody trusts or likes each other. About the only thing we can agree on is that Dan Beebe is worthless. Seriously, an 80-year old could do Beebe's job better than him.

"On behalf of myself and Dr. Deaton, we are committed to working just hard enough to keep the Big 12 from looking like the Big East. The league is aggressively recruiting to add new partners that are willing to do almost anything for AQ status.

"Rest assured that the Missouri brand is extremely strong. Maybe not "Nebraska to the Big 10" strong, but definitely "A Spare Team to Round Out SEC Scheduling" strong.

"The landscape of college athletics continues to evolve, and thank you for your patience as we work to make the Big 12 successful. Or to flip them the deuces. Whichever."

Go Tigers.

You can leave too.

My favorite is Beebe getting the email with the orangebloods report that Oklahoma was headed to the Pac, and forwarding it to Joe Castiglione saying 'Call me about this ASAP'.

"Dear Tiger Fans,

"As you probably already know, Texas A&M is leaving the Big 12 for another conference. And we are jealous as s***. So, we are going all in with the SEC too. We don't have much, if anything, to really offer them, except we get them to 14 teams for scheduling purposes. It also may take weeks to get this whole thing done. As you know, none of us in this state move real fast. Just isn't our style.

So, we are going to drag our feet, say goodbye to hosting conference tournaments regularly in our state, and cherish our one football win in the Big12 over Texas or OU, our 7 total Big12 Championships, and are going to join our brothers down there in Banjoland. The time has come to quit trying to pretend we are something we are not. So let's make some more sweet tea, boil some peanuts, and cherish being in a conference, that really wants, no needs, well, that will accept us. Its a great fit. Just say this big word with me: stability.

I know some fans may be confused. We will indeed be the third Tiger team in the conference, and the other two will be quite better than us at pretty much anything. Don't worry, we will still wear the black with **** gold accents that you have grown so fond of.

M-I-Z-Z-O-U. Yep. That spells Missouri.

Go Tigers. (The Black and Gold ones)

FIFY.

Oh, and how about ISU and our 19 National Championships (compared to your 2) Our 12 Big12 Championships (compared to your 7), and the fact that we do all this while being in a state with half your population, and twice the number of BCS, AAU, and Tier One research institutions?

Or the one where he forwards the story about Bob Stoops talking about moving to the Pac 12.

"Call me about this as soon as you have time. thx"

Then Joe Castiglione forwards Beebe's email to his Communications Director who tells him "Bob was just talking in hypotheticals."

It's pretty clear that no one in the Big XII Conference had any idea what was going on. They were reading daily stories just like we were to try to understand what other schools were doing behind the scenes.

It makes it a bit more interesting when you've got some like JP saying 'dont listen to message boards, they dont know anything', when these emails show that it seems the b12 conference didnt know much of anything, and they were reading the exact same stuff we were being told was junk.

I had the exact same thought.

I also enjoyed David Boren sending emails to all the journalists who regularly published realignment stories saying how great OU's academics are and that they would not be a hindrance to joining any conference.

Some of these Presidents and Athletic Directors were reading the same stories we were on a day-to-day basis. Many of them were even forwarding each other the stories through email. I'm glad neither Jamie Pollard nor Greg Geoffrey showed up in any of those emails except for being copied on them.

I received a phone call this afternoon from Glen Powell, former chief of staff for Senator Inhofe. He wanted to pass along that Baylor would really appreciate you giving them the opportunity to visit with you, again.
I said I would pass along to you so here it is. Thank you!

Does baylor have to get a senator (or his former chief of staff) involved to get OU to talk to them?

I think you have a couple different groups here. One is the universities (presidents and ADs) and the other is the Big XII (Dan Beebe). Beebe was probably cut out of a lot of the conversation, hence his "call me ASAP" email in response to the Orangeblood report.

However, I suspect that the presidents and ADs were probably much better informed. These guys are politicians and have a lot of contacts at the different schools. They're also not stupid and they know that anything that goes in an email is going to be made public, so there's hardly anything of substance that was actually written by any of them included in these emails. For this reason, I don't think you can take the lack of firm details as an indication that they didn't know what was going on.

That said, I'm sure they still read the message boards to make sure that they can reconcile that information with what they're being told by their contacts.
