OU Internal Emails Regarding Realignment

Julian Walters is awesome.
I couldn't copy and paste this from my phone last night, so here's the email I was referring to:

From:
Julian Walters

To:
Boren, David L.

Subject:
Pac 12

Date:

President Boren,

Any person who prefers to move OU to the Pac 16 instead of the SEC is either an idiot or a coward.

You are completely incompetent and your complete lack of understanding on this matter is embarrassing. Nationally, one college football pundit after another is stunned at why you would make such a ridiculous decision.

In short, you suck at your job and you should be fired immediately. My support for the alma mater I have loved all my life is done because of your stupidity.

Screw the OU administration for not valuing who we are,

Julian Walters

My favorite part is in the OSU emails where the OSU Coordinator Academic Appeals sent an email about a phone call she got from a police officer who is a A&M alum. She says the caller wants OSU to join the "SCC East" and is very against OSU & OU joining the "Pack 10" because they are a world away and in a different time zone. Apparently Michele is not a college sports fan.

What would you have him say in that situation? He's gotta make SOME kind of a statement.

"Dear Tiger Fans,

"As you probably already know, Texas A&M is leaving the Big 12 for another conference. And we are jealous as s***.

Well, at least that would have been the truth. I guess A&M actually has a code of honor that they violated when they went behind the scenes to bail on the conference. What's Mizzou's code of honor again, by the way?

That's some mighty fine reading and serves to squash this ridiculous notion that OU is committed to the Big 12-2-1+1+1-1.

just wondering how this kids first day of preschool is going today...anyone have any updates??

LOL at the very first letter who calls the Pac Ten a stronger conference.

Can we please play Wash St, Oregon St, Cal, UCLA, Arizona and Colorado this year????

PLEASE! We'd either be on the BCS bubble or stumbling to 7-5 or 8-4.

The same Pac Ten that was a one bid NCAA basketball conference recently?

Pac Ten blows compared to the Big Ten, let alone the Big 12.

Wow, thanks for your deep insight into that reading. I don't really get your actions here anymore. Especially with statements like that. Are you looking for us to confirm Missouri's decision to go to the SEC as a great one? Why do you care what we think? Or, are you trying to tell us how stupid we are for still being in the conference? To that, it's pretty obvious. ISU HAS NO WHERE ELSE TO GO THAT OFFERS THE MONEY THE BIG XII HAS! Yeah, we are pretty stupid for not joining the MWC and take $1million a year when we can stay in the Big XII, no matter how unstable and at least collect $15 - $20 million next year. The Big XII is unstable, great, thanks for the information. You either are a complete ***, or it's true what they say about the Missouri educational system and you are just figuring out what everyone else has known for 2 years now. No thanks to your institution BTW.

That is an interesting question. There is no real way to make sense of this move by Missouri. My guess is that they were still talking during the renegotiating and signing of TV rights, and that while I believe Deaton chaired the Big12 expansion committee, Missouri was still in talks with SEC about joining them. Those are some huge things to try and explain away, especially under oath in a court of law. And I can almost guarantee there are trails, such as emails or phone records that would come up in legal discovery.

So essentially, Mizzou probably tried to be too cute by half, and ended up having to leave, because they had already done enough that there was no backing away from it, and they had already built up the instability excuse, which they were instrumental in creating and continuing.

So have fun Tigers. All that increased travel and expenses for your teams. Shrinking your recruiting pool, and joining a conference where you clearly will have less of a voice than the previous one.

These MU tools would like nothing more than for the Big12 to completely implode now that they are out of the woods. I have no doubt of that.

Funny thing on that. Anyone notice the sentiment and actual hope from a lot of people that the Big East actually survives? I was listening to satellite radio this morning. And all I kept hearing was how the Big East was doing the right thing and they should do what they can to make it work. This after 2 years of the Vultures floating over the Big XII just pushing for it to blow up.

The really interesting OU emails regarding re-alignment would be those from Fall 2010 through Spring 2011. Those will likely never see the light of day.

It makes it a bit more interesting when you've got some like JP saying 'dont listen to message boards, they dont know anything', when these emails show that it seems the b12 conference didnt know much of anything, and they were reading the exact same stuff we were being told was junk.

The emails are just a smoke screen. Real stuff is discussed face to face or over the phone so that later there are no records which can be demanded by a newspaper and plastered all over the internet.

Or the one where he forwards the story about Bob Stoops talking about moving to the Pac 12.

"Call me about this as soon as you have time. thx"

Then Joe Castiglione forwards Beebe's email to his Communications Director who tells him "Bob was just talking in hypotheticals."

It's pretty clear that no one in the Big XII Conference had any idea what was going on. They were reading daily stories just like we were to try to understand what other schools were doing behind the scenes.

In reading these emails from Beebe, it was uncanny how similar he came across as the Fake Dan Beebes on Twitter.

Why couldn't they back away from it if they wanted to? Because it would be embarrassing?! This is Missouri...you think our leaders recoil from embarrassment? Hardly.

You talk about things "under oath" and trails of "legal discovery." Who exactly is going to file a lawsuit against MU? The Big 12? Iowa State? Disgrunted fans of other schools?

And for what purpose? They've already replaced Missouri with WVU. Or should ISU devote resources towards legal action because you have hurt feelings?

Why? What does MU gain with the destruction of the Big 12? Validation? There's no question that moving to the SEC was the right move for Mizzou. You disagree? Fine...but it's not your call.

I don't BELIEVE the Big 12 survives for more than 5 years, but I certainly don't WISH for it. As a fan I'm in no hurry to push for superconferences, and having the Big 12 intact benefits college football in general.

Ultimately, it's up to the remaining Big 12 members now to make it work. No more blaming the departing programs for the instability. The Big 12 will succeed or fail on its own.

Wow, talk about delusional. If it was such a no-brainer, why didn't they announce it, proudly, right here in KC when they decided to finally take a **** or get off the pot? I mean, if the same decision is right in Columbia, it also has to be right in Springfield, Jefferson City, or Kansas City, right? As long as it is a no-brainer.

For the record, we love how you and other tiggers come to this site and try to earn validation for Missouri's idiotic move. Maybe if you guys got to double digits in Big12 championships we might take your athletic department seriously.
