OT - Cutting Cable

Still have the cable, but I'm taking steps- just bought the Roku Premier Plus to use for Amazon Prime TV and Netflix. Was accessing those through my Sony BluRay player, but that absolutely sucked as for some reason known only to Sony (probably to track and sell your viewing habits), they require that you to go through their server bottlenecks to access anything.

Does anyone have experience with OMG TV or EasyView TV ? I saw both of these at the state fair. Fair special was $300 (regularly about $400). They advertised - buy the box once and you can watch any station (except OMG didn't have RFD) any time, any old shows. No monthly fees. One thing I didn't think to ask was availability of local stations, but they talked about the capability to get any station. I didn't buy but very tempting. What am I missing?

Never heard of this until just now but it seems like a way to organize pirated content?

Stream anything including pay tv shows? Huh.

Anyone have a good suggestion for a good OTA antenna? I bought one on Amazon with a 25 mile radius, live 10 miles from downtown Des Moines and get only one of the major networks.

I am also having this problem. I bought an antenna that is for 50 miles and I live in a big town and I do not get all of the channels that have stations right here in town.

I bought one off Amazon and I'm putting it in this weekend. I live in West DSM, so I'll let you know how it goes. Edit: it's an attic antenna.

I'm out near Jordan Creek mall.
We get CBS, NBC, FOX, CW perfectly clear.
I can never get ABC. Maybe a quick frame or two, but then nothing.

I'm planning to install an attic antenna this fall or as soon as the attic cools down. Even if that doesn't help with ABC, I'll still be happy to get rid of the antenna at every TV.

From what I've gathered/experienced, even a "good" amplified indoor antenna is going to be limited.

After cutting the cord a month or so ago I am starting to have some fear built up now that football season is here. DirecTV Now still does not have local channels (yet) so I am going to have to hope some ISU games are on network apps such as Fox Sports Go. DirecTV Now subscriptions give you a free log-in to some network apps but inevitably I will probably run into some issue and I'll have to watch the game at a bar or something instead of at home.

I'm not far from you and I had ABC coming in clear for about 3 weeks with an amplified indoor antenna and now It's not coming in at all.

No ISU games will be on local channels. If they happen to be on ABC (via ESPN) you can still stream over WatchESPN.

As long as you get the ESPNs and FoxSports1, you shouldn't miss any ISU games.
I guess the Akron game is on CBS Sports. I'm not sure I'll get that one on PSVue either.

Isn't that flipping cool to say?!?

Not all that long ago we had no coverage. Now ISU Football is on pretty much every week and the stadium is still full.

Other than wins this is a golden age of ISU Football! .....other than wins

If I took down the dish, would there be a cable up there for me to hook an antenna to?

Should be and that is what I would do.

We have been looking at going back to DirecTV but haven't been able to justify it yet. Another factor is the fact that we only have one coax line into the house which is being used by Mediacom for internet so if we did so they would have to run another line to at least one room. Not interested in having a bunch of extra installation cost so I am a bit weary there.
