Oklahoma vs Florida twitter

@isufbcurt How is that dumb? The 4 team playoff has rendered every other bowl irrelevant. It has basically made the regular season irrelevant for 95% of teams playing.

Does anyone remember that K-State played in an Alamo Bowl? Does anyone care? Bowls are great for the teams that get to play in them, but they are an afterthought for most fans who watch because they are home for the holidays.

People are taking off work to watch the NCAA tournament. Nobody took the day off to watch the Duke's Mayonnaise Bowl. (Which was an awesome game to watch, btw)
I agree with you. Only fans of the teams care about these games, and even then only smaller/less prestigious ones truly care. I have only bet on one game this bowl season and watched zero, simply due to the fact it's impossible to predict who's going to try hard.

If the stakes were higher in these games, players wouldn't sit out and they would actually be watchable. I have no idea how to change any of that, but anything short of turning the CFP into some kind of weeks long madness like in CBB doesn't seem likely to work. Maybe make it so that the bowl payout only goes to the team that wins? That would hold somebody's feet to the fire and we wouldn't get the poor loser quotes from the Florida coach at the end of the day.

How irrelevant is it if we have 126 posts? Pretty sure this isn't the Gator or Sooner board. College football fans like to watch these games.

I'm sure if UF had curb-stomped OU their coach would have played it up in the interview and to future recruits.

If you're committing to play for your university, coaches and teammates I believe you should give it your all.

If you're going to pick and choose - your scholarship should be reimbursed.

Irrelevant to most fans not of those schools was what I meant.

I don't necessarily disagree, but I don't think there is a fix in college football. Even going to 8 teams is a stretch with competitiveness. You just aren't going to have a setting where double-digit teams can play a game that could lead to a title.

But to your point, I agree I have a hard time being interested in 80% of the bowl games. I will watch ours, obviously, and I watched OU last night. I will probably watch the playoff games, but they aren't exactly appointment television. I think it goes more to the lack of parity more than the flaws of the playoff system. All this to have Clemson and Bama play each other again.

Florida and their coaches are dbags. Talked a lot of ****.

Anyone that saw his and their antics against Mizzou knows that.

This was Dan Mullen after the Mizzou skirmish egging on the crowd. Total doosh.

I'll tell you one thing. When an opposing player helps you off the ground and pats you on the helmet for a good play, THAT is something which makes me feel good and doesn't embarrass anyone. But taunting is such a classless thing. Furthermore, I'd hate for any children to be getting the idea this is the way to play sports. I'll side with good sportsmanship any day.
Normally I’d agree with you. However, at least one Florida defensive player (I think a linebacker) was talking trash before the game and saying something like how Oklahoma wasn’t going to compete with them. Once that happens, and Florida’s getting killed, I don’t have a problem with Oklahoma players doing the gator chomp or Oklahoma fans chanting “S-E-C”

Yeah, I know that. The point being Florida wasn't missing much of anything on defense, but their defense got stomped anyway.

Their defense sucked regardless, their offense is what made them a top 10 team. I think they were overrated but it wasn't a fair matchup. Not Oklahoma's fault though.

I give Florida credit for even playing the game with a skeleton-crew roster and a bunch of bench-warming wide receivers. Mullen is right - we need to re-evaluate the bowl games to make them worth playing in.

Were all those receivers going to play defense too? Grinch had Trask absolutely lost and Florida’s defense was completely non-competitive with OUs offense.

And so UF loses all their receivers and TE. You have your OL, RBs, Heisman finalist QB. Throw some other 4 star WRs in there and play.

Fair? You think with a full roster Florida wins? OU could have scored 80. I don't care how good their offense is.....if that's the best they can get out of their D......Florida isn't close to top 10 and there is no way they beat OU. What they have going for them is this and only this......................SEC. Same kind of name recognition that placed Ohio State into the playoffs after only playing 6 games. It's BS. And having seen them play twice......ISU fans do have some knowledge of how good Oklahoma is.

Rattler was out of the game with 8:30 left in the THIRD QUARTER!

If the game was still competitive OU could have dropped 70 without a problem. A great TE, one good WR and a couple serviceable WRs aren’t winning that game. Trask and UFs OL has no hope. They were overwhelmed.

did you not watch the SEC title game? Florida was ranked because of their offense, not the defense. If you take away the things that made them elite, they then are no longer elite. How is this hard to understand?

OU could have beat them fully equipped, we'll never know and it doesn't matter. OU won that game and that's all that matters.

I will say that if this many players opting out of NY6 bowls becomes a trend, bowl games will have all the relevance of the NIT which probably isn't great for ISU or Iowa.

At this point, if your bowl isn't a CFP game it is like some low-level bowl in Shreveport. That's the problem.

Face it, ISU fans and maybe some Oregon fans are the only people who care about the Fiesta Bowl this year. I don'y really even care about the CFP this year. I will watch, but I watch any bowl game.

This is what everybody said would happen to bowl games when a playoff format was introduced. Why are people surprised by this?

Who is this guy? Can I knock his teeth in?

I know you are saying this as a joke but it’s amazing to me that some of these Twitter warriors haven’t been assaulted routinely with the level of crazy out there. I truly believe at some point it will start happening.

Oh I watched.......and a top 10 team/elite doesn't need to score 60 to win games against good opponents. Them being ranked wasn't what I responded to......it was them being top 10. Because they aren't....even with a full offense.

And you are right we will never know. But I can be fairly certain they weren't going to score 60 on OU's defense.

I agree 100% with you last statement. Which I think was the goal all along. The rich get richer and the poor.......well. And this year with the all the massaging to get Ohio State their reservation pretty much confirmed what everyone has been thinking since the inception of the CFP and that is..........fixed. Three teams are basically locked......the rest of college football can fight for the last spot and then have fun in their wish upon a star bowls.

We will disagree on that. I like letting the opponent know when I'm curb stomping someone.

You know what I think is bad though, late in the game Florida is down 42 and the FL QB has a long run for a first down and the QB does the first down signal. Sit your ass down boy, you are down by 42 no one cares about a first down.

Goes both ways here...the lead was 21 pointsish I think in the 2nd half and an OU player corner definitely interfered and pushed the receiver down but then got up waving his fingers when no flags were thrown.

Was pretty nonsensical.

It's bad enough when players make a basic play and act like they just won a WWE match, it's worse when they don't even actually do their job to begin with.

I didn't think the NY6 games would take the same hit, at least as long as the playoff remained at 4 teams. It appears I was wrong, which means the playoff will have to expand soon
