Aren't we down to one scholarship at best and in desperate need of a point guard?

We are down to one open spot if you assume Lard makes it but that's 50/50 at best IMO.

As for a PG, we really don't need a PG until we know where Monte stands and if he goes, then obviously you have another spot opening up anyway.

I wouldn't say desperate. I'm hopeful DJ will be ready to start if Monte leaves. If not, I would be fairly comfortable with Hallice handling the ball. I'm more worried about post players. While I think Ernst and Carter will contribute someday, they have a long ways to go before they are ready next season.

Yep, I see these two as needing one more year before they are ready to start or play extended minutes. I think they both can contribute next year, but both are very raw.

Ernst missing his senior year of basketball, probably put him back quite a ways.

Carter is highly athletic, but needs a lot of coaching before he can be consistent. Landing in Ames just a couple of days before school started didn't help him for this year.

Both players will make big strides into next year, but I still wouldn't bet they will combine for more than 20-25 min/game next year.

Anyone know if Justin Moss from Buffalo ended up anywhere? Was kicked off for theft but he was the MAC POY last year.

I get the athleticism, but I cringed when Carter didn't even hit the rim on a 3 ft. bank shot feed from his teammate in the Chattanooga game. I hope you're right about the big strides into next year. We sorely need a big to transfer in.

While I think the staff would welcome a Post-Grad transfer or highly ranke JC to come in next year, let's just not assume both Ernst and Carter playing at their current levels. A full year learing and practicing against this years roster, getting spot minutes during the season, and a full offseason with the BB staff can lead to a leap of improvement. Afterall we are projecting their play after only 5 games and with neither being on campus fully participating in practice. Patience.

Always good to go with patience, I hear ya. But there are many freshmen across the nation getting playing time, or at least 'role' playing time and contributing to teams, and I'm not talking 4 or 5 star guys either. Ours are only getting cleanup time. But, yeah, patience.... I know.

A lot of those freshman players don't have all Big 12 team type players infront of them either. Bill Self is an example of a coach that makes freshman earn playing time in practice prior to getting game action, Prohm could be cut from the same cloth.
Let's face it, between Niang, McKay, and Nader (eventually adding Burton) playing 30+ minutes which they deserve there isn't going to be a lot of minutes available. Prohm said he wanted to get both Ernst/Carter playing time in the VT game and I'd expect well see them both get more run in December and then depending on foul issues in the conference season.

Geesh looks like he'd be an amazing player for the college game, not sure we even call him because of the A&M coach being our coaches mentor. I hope we do go after him though, seems like the offensively gifted post we need for next year.

He is a much needed and hope the connection works out, because we need a solid inside man. He's the transfer I feel Prohm is waiting for. So get him coach and then go after a 4 star PG for 2017.

Why wouldn't we call him b/c Kennedy being Prohm's mentor? I feel like that would help more than hurt. Would be a great get and I'm hoping we pursue him.

It would likely help if he's leaving on good terms. It will have a lot to do with how Thomas views Kennedy as much as how Kennedy views Thomas.
