Was he recruited over?

Not sure, he averaged 5 points a game last year as a frosh and was top 50 out of HS.
I know that A&M has landed some top players over the past two summers but u would think he carved out a role this year but, maybe not enough of one for his liking?

I found this:
"After averaging 18.8 minutes per game as a freshman, Robinson didn’t play in Texas A&M’s season-opening win over SC Upstate as freshman Admon Gilder came off the bench to contribute 16 points. Texas A&M also added graduate transfer guard Anthony Collins this offseason and senior Alex Caruso is also playing in front of Robinson. With the Aggies adding a top-100 point guard in J.J. Caldwell in the Class of 2016 for next season, Robinson would have had to battle for consistent minutes the next few seasons."

Why? If he can find a bigger role here than he can at A&M, I doubt Kennedy would be upset. Our due diligence would be pretty easy.
Knowing how coaches are Kennedy would not be upset but very well may recommend Prohm.

Yeah if the kid is not getting playing time. Why would kennedy be mad. Might actually steer him our way.

Know very little about this Robinson, and I realize you have to have good guards to win, but I'm going to sleep tonight after enjoying another Hilton win and dreaming that an impact BIG man transfer, who will be immediately eligible next year, will fall into our lap. Malou is more of a wing, and Young will be 'young'. Carter and Ernst look very .... well, needing lots of development. Please don't mess with my dream.

Just read a blurb on Robinson in which it said he didn't play the opening game and is transferring, which is not news. But the blurb said because he didn't play , he will have 3 yrs. left to play after a sit-out transfer year. Is that info incorrect? Meaning, McKay didn't play at Marquette either, but didn't get the full two years left of eligibility, because he was enrolled already in classes. Is that not correct?

I'm not an expert, but I would guess it would look like this if he transfers before 2nd semester starts:
2014-2015 - Freshman year (played)
2015-2016 - Redshirt year, transfer in December
2016-2017 - Redshirt sophomore, not eligible to play until late December
2017-2018 - Redshirt junior
2018-2019 - Redshirt senior

That accounts for the "5 years to play 4" rule, and also the "sit out a full year when you transfer" rule. So he would still have 2.5 years of eligibility. However, if this year counts against him as a "played" year, then my analysis is totally wrong.

McKay's situation is similar, but he had already used up one additional year of eligibility at Indian Hills, so he only had 1.5 years remaining to play.

That's how I see it too. 2.5 to play. Could be worth looking at if Kennedy gives an endorsement that he's a decent kid, and can play at this level.

Is he more of a PG or SG?

Looks like his recruiting profiles indicate more of a point guard. But since he's being recruited over, who knows if he has big12 potential.

Until our last scholarship is filled this thread lives.
TJ mentioned in last weeks podcast the staff is still looking for a guard. Prohm has a connection with his current coach too.

@JonRothstein: Texas A&M's Alex Robinson will transfer, per release. Former Top-100 player.

@TheRecruitScoop: Texas A&M sophomore guard Alex Robinson will transfer, the school announced.

I may be mistaken, but I swear I remember TJ talking about how a mid-year transfer big would be nice, not a guard. Granted, I think they would take either if it was the right guy, but I think it is worth clarifying.

So much is up in the air in the guard front until we know if MM leaves after this season....we have DJ coming in for 2 years at PG, Hallice for 2 more years ( who can play backup PG), as well as MM starting, of course, if he comes back ( and it will come down to whether he wants to go early and be a 2nd round pick or not drafted ( that is most likely how he is viewed right now)...

At SG, Matt as the starter, backed up by Hallice, and Jakolby Long, with Babb and Burton playing SF most likely....we need the PG of the future, but I see a transfer big as the major need for next year....

if MM comes back, you have to think a solid 5th year big would love to come play alongside him and make us a top 15 -20 team...
