****Official Stop Complaining About Student Turnout Thread****

No thanks, I'll keep complaining about the pathetic turnouts but you guys have fun in here patting each other on the back for your fellow students not showing up on a weekday where you are all within 10 minutes of Hilton at a max, most within walking distance.
Agreed. Student turnout sucked. There is really no point in arguing it.

Sorry I'm going to hijack this thread and tell you how pathetic it was to watch on tv and see the entire upper bowl area empty in the student section. Shoot, people on here make fun of Iowa for having "gimmicks" to get students to games, maybe thats what Pollard needs to do. IMO part of the problem with players coming out and playing flat in the first half was Hilton Colliseum sounding more like Hilton Church. Can you only make noise when Royce White dunks in Cyclone Alley? People make fun of Baylor's crowds, but this was pretty bad.

I think the people complaining are disappointed because we all know that Hilton can be one of the most indimidating atmospheres in college basketball when it is rocking, and a good turnout in the student section is a big part of that

Hungus! Quit acting like you care. You believe in nothing. :plaugh:

The turnout sucks, I am sick of hearing I had to study excuses. You will never have more free time in your life then your college years. It is called priorities. that being said, I have always been for free student tickets. I think they should get one side of arena circle and one end lower level. first come first serve. Free food before the game.

I think this will get better. As you all know, students can be fickle...that's just how it is. There is going to be a "buzz" about getting tickets as we are a winning team (they'll sell QUICK at orientation, etc). I think many have pointed out the cumbersome process to give a ticket to someone else, not the old way of actually giving a paper ticket.

I'm sure athletics is noticing...yes, they made their money either way...but now it's about making sure the atmosphere is there. Hopefully they can find ways to make it easier, etc.

And as you all know, the "market" can fix some of this....if there begins to be more demand for tickets from non-students, they could reduce amount of student seats...then in two years the threads will be:
****Official Give Students Tickets, Not Old People Who sit on their Bottoms****thread.

The student turnout in this thread is awful!!! There should be many more posts than this. I don't want to hear that you are at class or anything. It's an excuse. Post on this thread! Ridiculous!

The people that complain about the student section are the same people that need Royce White to wave his arms to motivate them to cheer.

Example: Royce White huge dunk, student section going crazy, timeout opposing team, Royce White walks towards bench waving his arms, complainers stand up start clapping.

Here's another issue at least from my perspective. It's annoying that students get a pretty good price for lower bowl tickets compared to us regular folks and then don't show up.

Are you paying $25,000 dollars in out of state tuition right now as well as padding your student loans? No? Oh well.

Student section = 50% full
Complainers section = 85% full

You know, back in the old days we would have pushed this thread to 10 pages by now. Come on students! Maybe we should take your access away, or limit the amount of students who can be on CF at one time.

Here's the problem-- most people on this board, including myself, would kill to be able to be back in school and have and excuse to get drunk and go to every basketball game. Aside from having to be at a test, there is no real excuse not to go. Some day you will have actual excuses not to go to games-- kids in activities, long drive to games, work obligations, etc.-- and you will regret skipping games during one of the best years in ISU MBB history.

I guess I fail to see a point here.

Would you rather have the 50% cheering 75% of the time, or the 85% cheering 10% of the time?

Would you rather have the 50% there the entire game, or the 85% turn to 25% with 5 minutes left?

Again, last night was the first game I missed, I've given my reasons in previous threads. That being said, some people are ALWAYS looking for something to complain about.

Sorry your priorities are in this order

1) Family

2) Football games at Trice

3) Basketball games at Hilton

4) Womens basketball at Hilton

Last) Education

I mean Iowa State is just a place to play athletics...no education is involved at all?:twitcy:

I think your overshooting your percentages on the 85%, but none the less, to answer your question, I'd rather the student section be full when we have games that are sold out. Students sections are supposed to be the crazy sections of the stadium; the sections that are cheering the most; the most die-hard sections of the stadium; the sections that produce the energy in the stadium! I personally dislike the "break games", just because the environment completely sucks when there are no students. The less the student section is full, the less enjoyable the game is for a lot of people.

yep lots of idiotic statements regarding the students in here...We can ignore the openings in the adult sections but not the students? Double standard people aren't admitting to.
