weather/close to family. I can understand it...
Most of the football games are done before bad weather starts. Playing for FIU is just a step down on challenges except pre season when you get killed by EIU.

Someone please explain this to me, Ole miss had 36 guys sign today. How the hell do you do that? Do you really expect 11 guys to not qualify/grayshirt?

Alabama did the same thing last year. Saben was quoted as saying he signs as many as he can and then worries about it when the fall starts. People don't qualify, some kids transfer. Apparently the SEC doesn't have a limit put in place like the Big 12 and Big 10Someone please explain this to me, Ole miss had 36 guys sign today. How the hell do you do that? Sorry to hijack the thread and post more info on weird mascots, but I found this link. Lots of great nicknames on here including the Unicorns and several good Iowa mascots.
HIGH SCHOOL TEAM NAMES
I really like the Lawrence Kansas team. Looks like the girls teams are just the "Lady Lions" though. HA!
Nice list, I'm now on a mission to find Fighting Zebras and Mean Moose t-shirts.
My neighborhood high school is nicknamed the Pointers, I thought they might have been the only one. I guess not.

Play in front of 50,000 or play in front of 7,000.
So, are the girls teams called "The Pointers Sisters"?
Yes, you are.
well it depends on whether you want to count where they went to HS or JUCO.... from where they grew up itThis may have been posted already, but it looks like we got
6 kids from California
6 kids from Texas
4 kids from Florida
Of course you'd like to see us sign a bunch of local kids too, but it's not awful to have inroads in some of these football mecca states.

Are the athletes in Alabama that much better than the ones in Iowa? Alabama has about a million more residents than Iowa, and yet look at all the talent coming out of that state. Just by taking a quick look at some SEC school commit lists on Rivals, I am counting 11 players from the state of Alabama that are rated 4 star or better. That's just looking at about 4 SEC schools. There may be more. How many 4 stars came out of Iowa? 2-3?
Are we just unathletic piles?
Maybe the star system is more ridiculous than we think.
