I don't know which nickname is better - Mars or "Pooh Bear" :laugh:

Chizik or Rhoads do you mean?

CPR got the job five days before Christmas. I've read that, perhaps, the single most important ingredient in recruiting is the personal relationship that is created between player and coach. If so, CPR had a pretty tough time creating those sorts of bonds in six weeks when other competing coaches have been at it with a kid 1-2 years.

I'd like to know this, but I wonder if CPR identified his main task as not only re-recruiting those kids who gave verbals to ISU's previous staff (he has said as much) and to follow-up Scott Fountain's leads with those kids that had already established a relationship of some sort with ISU.

That is, I wonder how many of today's signees came about as a result of "cold calls" or first contact by ISU's new staff?

We know that Chizik's second year produced a really nice group of kids - so many of them played as rookies last fall. Can't wait to see what CPR does in his second (but first full season) recruiting year.

I think I remember someone saying that part of the reason why a lot of the kids stuck around is that some of the former coaches did an excellent job of acting as a bridge to Paul Rhodes instead of giving ISU the gigantic F.U. in response to the shafting they just received. While Rhodes deserves the credit for getting the kids to come here on such a short notice, the remainder of the former staff deserves their credit as well.
 
is arron moore definitely playing defensive line? or is there a chance that he will play center? I have high hopes from him. He got some really good offers and chose to stick it out with the cylones.

Not much, according to QB Austen Arnaud. He was asked Monday night on the radio call-in show how much not having a position coach influences a player's decision.

Arnaud said it might make a difference with a kid or two, but in the main it's the institution, the head coach, and the opportunity to play that's key (hope this is a fair paraphrase). Austen said that CPR's defensive rep is such that a kid will understand where ISU is headed defensively and the position coach doesn't make a difference really.
 
WTF, Marry signs with a school with 32 commits, and Mars signs with FIU? Neat. Oh ****, screw them, give us Cyclones.
 
what is with the whole question why didn't you get recruited by bigger schools? "well first of all I'm white" i don't like that. race should have nothing to do with it beau

I'd bet dollars to donuts that Jeff Woody finishes his Cyclone career on scholarship.

I agree with you, but like it or not, schools did probably overlook him because of his race. I would submit that Jacob Hester is a perfect example of why race doesn't matter, but unfortunately not everyone sees it that way.
