*** Official Selection Sunday Thread ***

I think what's interesting about this is how fast this has moved. Last night during our broadcast, whoever was with Fran wasn't even entertaining the idea that we were anything but a 2. It wasn't "did Iowa State just give themselves a chance for a 1?". It was "Iowa State is going to be a 2".

Then as the night went on national guys started talking about us getting a 1, but kind of dismissing it a bit. And as the day has gone, a lot of national people have talked about it as a real possibility. I've actually been surprised at how many are saying we should be the 1 since it was off of EVERYONE'S radar until like 20 hours ago.

It is crazy, crazy close. And I want it so bad.

Anybody else having issues with ESPN.com not recognizing their ESPN+ membership today even after loggin in/out several times? I can watch ESPN+, but not access any of the articles. Just started today.

That happened to me a couple weeks ago and I had to call their customer service line to get my article access again.

I've still managed to keep myself in "2 seed until told otherwise mode."

The cynic in me says a lot of this debate is purely for ratings and buzz. Why Palm bumped us 2 whole seed lines.

Feel like there's been a clear divide between ESPN\CBS.

ESPN started setting the 'protect the ACC' narrative weeks ago with their 'big 12 gamed the net' conspiracy theory, and they've all set their talking points about ISU and that 1 seed based on that.

CBS doesn't have as much attachment with any particular conference the way ESPN always seems to love the ACC, so we get better coverage.

I'm torn part of me wants Iowa State to be a #1 seed because they are my favorite team, the other part of me wants them to be a #1 seed but just because I want to see Clark Kellogg literally cry live on television. It's a real dilemma

It was just a couple weeks ago Palm thought we had work to do to even play in Omaha.

I don’t recall, has there ever been a surprise #1 seed on selection Sunday?

I'm sure there has been. But we wouldn't remember because it hasn't affected us.

What amazes me is that with how gigantic sports are in our society, there are very few big media companies at the top when it comes to online presence. ESPN has to have about 95% of the traffic.

There's the Athletic, but they're still not that popular. Fox Sports, CBS Sports, etc have sites, but they're more afterthoughts or supplements to their tv presence. CBS used to have Sportsline, but that changed hands a long time ago I believe. SI is a shell of it's old self. AP, USA Today, Bleacher Report are pretty vanilla/generic.
