Looking at SDSU they have some quality wins and tough losses.

Minnesota beat them, Tubby's got his boys in the top 25
They got beat by UNI, who we beat
Drake beat them, Hey they are the best team in Iowa

They beat Mayville State by 31 (92-61)
A big win at Central Arkansas (72-67)
And the won a knuckle biter against Upper Iowa at home by 4

:jimlad:

We suck!

Oh, believe me, I would want big time coach. However, it seems the vast majority of Cyclone faithful would prefer to have an "Iowa boy" for a coach that will bring "stability" to the program and not "look for greener pastures at the first sign of success". Even if that means having mediocre (or worse) results.

This is the most rediculous thing we talk about during our coaching search. I don't give a damn where the guy is raised, if he has coached at Iowa State in the past. If he can recruit big time talent to Ames, Iowa he is good in my book. That goes for both football and basketball.

This talk on Cotlar this morning about hiring half or more of the football staff that has Iowa connections is silly. Bring in staff members who can recruit big time players.

well the good news is that i woke up this morning, Santa comes tonight, and my kids will be happy. Atleast they are still too young to know why Dad cries himself to sleep after an ISU game.

Let me add another thing that I don't give a damn about...I don't give a damn if a coach comes in to ISU, has great success, and then leaves. I want guys that are going to bring winning teams to the court / field for ISU...PERIOD.

Off-topic here: Was Central Arkansas the school that Scottie Pippen went to, or was that a different direction Arkansas school?

Not related at all. I'm just curious, and started typing before looking it up.

Oh, hey, that is where he went!

I'm nostalgic for the days of Wayne Morgan.

He never should have been fired. What was the reason again? Street ball? The big donors didnt like his style? His style wasn't perfect and it looked chaotic at times but at least we had some nice wins at Kansas, and in the NCAA tourney.

We won't win one game in B12 play. This team is soft, has no heart, and no leadership.

Holy ****, almost 500 replies and over 11,000 views!

This is a meltdown thread. :biglaugh:

I have stayed loyal to ISU hoops for a long time.

I HATE watching no defense.

I HATE watching an offense that has players thinking instead of playing basketball.

I HATE bad coaching moves.

I HATE having 4 walkons on the floor at the end of the game (see Lee, Haluska, BP, AT)

I HATE watching us get out hustled.

I HATE the fact we have done nothing since Wayne Morgan left (not that I thought he was a good coach)

I agree with most everything you said but, good god can we get off the WM bus. He is gone, just like Mac in FB. It's time to move on.

Yes I hate being the ******* doormat of the Big 12 but we can't keep looking back.

I see Jeff Lebo is the coach at Auburn...maybe was can do a switch. :biglaugh:

One thing I have wondered about quite a bit is the passion of the assistants. It seemed like under Floyd, LE, and even Wayne the assistants did alot more in game, especially during time outs and when a player came out of the game. Now it seems like they all wait for Mac to tell them what to do...

Maybe they don't know their roles. I think we have more people in suits on the sidelines than players--how and why are there that many assistants?

In the past, it seems that the head coach had done some *** chewing, and then an assistant coach would "pick the guy up" and coach him a little after the head coach got done with him.

I just don't know what is the deal with this coach. I hope he can turn it around this year and next--I don't want to keep going through coaches.

Another thing--I thought his UNI teams had hundreds of set plays. Can we run one here? Or an out-of-bounds play? My wife says he needs to search google, or check out a wiki site if he needs some help.

My problem with McDermott is I'm not sure he would know what to do with good talent. He's so used to micromanaging his teams that if/when he has good talent he just screws it up...He might be better off at a school where he can make something out of nothing. Right now I think he's making nothing out of something.

4 NBA-type players on a team (Stinson-D-league, Blalock-former NBA, Homan-Oversees, Clark-Oversees) and we went 9-7 in the conference in our "glory" NCAA year. And we started out 0-5.

The next year with all of that returning talent? 6-10 in the conference.

Yes...I LONG for those days again. Squandering good talent away when you should be competing for a conference title.
