Saw a couple PSU games (I have no life). Grunk was a highly rated freshman QB. He took over mid year. Got thrown into Iowa game and almost beat them. Won last 5, including the bowl game where he was mvp. The thing is, he had three years left. The second thing, Matt wanted his guys. VT took Grunk the minute Rocco committed.
I agree with all of this. It's also possible that Grunk knew he wanted to follow coach Franklin to Va Tech, too.

He followed Franklin, I doubt keeping him was even a choice. I do think Rocco is better, but he’s a senior so he should be.

You are saying a booster who ponies up money (their own personal choice) for the schools NIL for the sport they are a fan of, receives no benefit from the program he supports being successful? Isn’t that for the booster to decide? You better go tell every booster who has ever contributed to a program (including before NIL) that they all received no benefit for their investments in the program they support.

I think it’s crazy that some posters here cannot conceive of a return on investment in anything other than direct monetary terms.

I think people have been brainwashed to think the universities can’t fund their own teams rosters and it’s all up to them. No other sport relies on crowdfunding a roster, yet a multi-billion dollar industry in CFB can’t figure it out? Give me a break.

Do you enjoy giving money to people who don’t fulfill their obligations for that money?

Definitely seems Rogers spending the most $$$ in our offensive line which is fantastic. Especially since we are going to run heavy offense.
I’ve been hoping for something like this for 10 years plus years now. Give me a mobile quarterback with a good offensive line and you’ll win a lot of games assuming the offensive line is actually good.

The difference here is the football revenue doesn’t just have to fund football operations. It has to fund entire athletic departments and their programs (minus men’s basketball). That is something no other sport has to deal with.

That’s not a problem for the top 10-20 athletic departments. But it is for all the others.

Eastern Iowa U has done it for 20+ years; usually without a QB.

Rocco could have been a legend had he stayed here... and revered.

At PSU he'd better darn perform... he will be compared to Grunk all season by their fans.

This is quickly turning into "the death of ISU football has been greatly exaggerated".

I'm wondering if some of the out-transfers had to do with the idea that Rogers had guys he considered better coming in.
I’m with you to a point, but we’ve both seen too many rodeos here to have any idea in January how good these guys are going to be next fall.

I’m cautiously optimistic and that’s all the ***** that I’m prepared to give at this point.
