***Official portal tracker thread***

Yep. But people want different things.

1. Some are driven to climb the corporate/coaching ladder bc they want the most resources, prestige or chance to win a NC.

2. Some try to climb the corporate/coaching ladder bc they think that’s what they’re supposed to do.

3. Some find a place where they feel comfortable and stay a very long time.

None is right or wrong as long as they chose the right path for them. But I see so many that could have had #3, but choose #2 for the wrong reason. They usually fail.
...and end up at whatever #4, or #5 are at.

"Since then, multiple programs have reportedly shown interest, with some NIL offers rumored to approach $5 million, a figure that would rank among the highest in college football."

If the "rumored" number is accurate, I would think that Texas Tech is behind a number that large (potentially).

Miami is throwing a lot of money at him too.

Once again, with the Alabama cannot compete in N.I.L.? SMH. Say it enough times, I suppose it will become true! FTR, they are the 3rd highest revenue earning Athletic Department in FBS. They literally have 80 players (currently) in the NFL with unlimited funds, plus they do have other wealthy donors who 100% care about football. Right now, they are struggling due to a poor coaching hire, not because of NIL. If Alabama needs to write an NIL check, they can.

Don’t know much about Bama, but I wonder if Georgia has hit a ceiling because Kirby is having trouble going full bore in the transfer portal, kinda like Clemson. 80 percent of Kirby’s kids are recruits and 20 percent from the portal. You have Oregon where close to a majority are in the portal. I think the SEC is having a hard time catching up with reality and it’s biting them in the butt big time. Just my opinion.

I do think he’s a lower level back than they’re used to. They have the no. 1 RB prospect in the draft this year, Saquon Barkley, Larry Johnson, Kijana Carter, etc.

Hansen isn’t at that caliber, but he’s still pretty good if they temper their expectations.
Lol...Nittany Lion fans aren't into tempering their expectations...Hell, Cornhusker fans still haven't tempered their's and it's been over 30 years since they've been relevant.

Great point!

I agree with that. I think much of the old guard SEC is just not transitioning well. Definitely the case at Alabama (going through an already tough coaching change) and probably Georgia and Clemson from ACC too.

The Power Programs have the means, but they are just stuck in the old ways (Kirby and Dabo) and / or have a clueless man (DeBoer) at the helm. Once they figure it out, they will be cooking with gas again. Money is not the issue.

From ISU's point of view, I hope JFR has a good grasp on all of this. Personally, I think he will be better at it than Matt. If JFR does, ISU should be as okay as they can be within budget. If not, could be a catastrophe.

Time will tell on that.

Sorsby $5M? Seen maybe half a dozen of his games over the last couple years, he's a nice quarterback. But for him to be one of the top QB's in the portal and get paid that kinda cash is crazy. Maybe better talent around him will make him shine like Howard did at OSU in 2024. But I have serious doubts.

This is where college GM's are going to earn their money. Because there will be a handful or more schools that get QB's that produce more at half the price of the top guys.

On the Two Chris' show this morning they were talking about portal QB rankings. Sorsby near top. Rocco was #8, Hoover was #10, Manske was #30ish and Raynor was #69.

If Iowa State can get Raynor and pay him in the $1M-$1.5M range, I'd be a happy camper. For a third of the price, don't think were going to get a third of the player. With coaching and great offensive fit...

Seems like Raynor would be more in the 750k range, we have a lot of areas of need and should be building wide not tall

#69 QB is worth $1-1.5 million? You’re crazy.
