Kind of like "Festivus." With the way things are being purported moving forward with the portal rule, I could see people doing a Portal Eve party. Not really.I have told those in my life instead on doing New Year’s Eve this year we will be doing portal eve on the night of January 1st.

1,000,000% my speculation here:Strokes his ego ala "I could do it at ISU and no one else is good enough to"
Or maybe, just maybe, there a no conspiracies and this is just what can happen with coaching changes.1,000,000% my speculation here:
Campbell thought he could pick his successor (he was statue-worthy and all!) & immediately played this card
Jamie: Thanks, but nah - hence the extremely speedy in announcing new coach
Campbell: sour grapes, dgaf
Does this help player retention? Absolutely not. Will we retain more? Yes, but remains to be seen how many (which is how it works now)
Coach Rogers is pulling some former players to Ames, so he's also developed good loyalty with existing players as well as new recruits.
We will be fine.
While the portal wasn't in place when Campbell came to ISU, how many recruits did he poach from Toledo at that time?Or maybe, just maybe, there a no conspiracies and this is just what can happen with coaching changes.
how about lifetime supply of clone cones.Breaking News: Swiacy has entered the portal and is entertaining offers for his fandom services. Please submit financial details by 8/1/26*
*Penn State excluded
Totally agree. It's both imo, too. While the portal wasn't in place when Campbell came to ISU, how many recruits did he poach from Toledo at that time?
It's been inferred by many in the know Campbell had his inner circle, which where his ultimate loyalty resided. Candle was going to be the OC for him until Toledo hired his as HC, this Campbell did not raid his recruits. Loyalty
Campbell did not get his man the HC job in Ames; therefore, he's made a more concerted effort to get select players & recruits shifted over. But this is also a sign of the times, too.
Mouser.Who was it the Campbell wanted to be his successor at Iowa State?
We’re also taking recruits from WSU, it’s just the way it is.While the portal wasn't in place when Campbell came to ISU, how many recruits did he poach from Toledo at that time?

Yep. And they’ll take them from the South Dakota States of the world. You just gotta accept for now that your roster will do a pretty good flip every year, albeit not like this years. Good players and coaches will get bought and you have to recruit and develop to replace them. We are the Milwaukee Brewers in a LA Dodger world. We’re also taking recruits from WSU, it’s just the way it is.
I’m guessing the people talking down about our players/recruits leaving aren’t applying the same logic to the ones we’re getting.I'm concerned about their loyalty.

This post was a response to one I had earlier stating the same thing. CFB reality currentlyWe’re also taking recruits from WSU, it’s just the way it is.
But some of our kids leaving are from Iowa. See the difference /s.I’m guessing the people talking down about our players/recruits leaving aren’t applying the same logic to the ones we’re getting.
