***Official portal tracker thread***

I'm sure there was ample "Campbellinisn" in this team. He's a manipulative coach ... they all are ... but hes REALLY good at it. We will know in time if we had top notch players we lost, or just average. But make no mistake, he stripped this program on his way out, and if he gets a statue ... I'll piss on it, repeatedly, and shat on his shoes.

Over half ISUs team was good enough to play for a P4 program that won 11 and 8 games the past two seasons, but are not good enough to play for another P4 school?
They're good enough but feel like we've been more a good team of above average talent and scheme than having star players. You obviously want any starter back but outside of Brahmer, Neal, Jontez that are probable NFL guys (could be more), not sure how hard it is to replace the departures with 13mil and 1200+ kids in the portal.

His people secured a financial offer from LSU and he was leaving to play for them unless ISU could pony up the dough and match it. You believe a player negotiating a financial offer with another team and threatening to leave if his team doesn’t match or exceed it is fundamentally different than testing the waters in the portal?

I don’t actually believe the poster who said Rogers will not take any player back who enters the portal. I heard posters say similar statements that sound tough about so many past coaches. They all took key players back who considered transferring or decomitting. It’s just part of the game.
Don’t think we had to match the LSU offer. Just needed to up ours to get closer from what I heard. He wanted to stay

Oh, of course It was God telling him to decommit. No doubt about it. God is heavily involved in college sports and the decisions of individual recruits - just look at all the transfer announcements. By the way, this player later changed his mind again and ditched that school too. So apparently God was just really confused about his path and kept changing his mind.

I just wish God would stop counseling our players to transfer for more NIL money! Can’t the Lord give the Cyclones a break?

Jesus hates us, this we know, cause the portal tells us so.

Replacing talent on an individual level is one thing. Building a winning football team is about more than just the talent of each individual player. I think it’s harder to build a winning team by replacing 3/4 of the two deep than your post implies. Especially when your NIL pool is relatively small, it makes the winning by hiring a team of mercenaries approach much harder.

I guess I don’t get all the angst about who stays and who goes. I’m sitting back waiting to see who is here in the end. Who wants to represent my university. Those are the only people I care about. So I don’t lose any sleep over those who choose to leave and will be forgotten before you know it.

I'm not implying a conference championship or 9 wins year 1 but I think a bowl game should be doable. Just saying we weren't that awesome individually, we did it as a collective of talent. Our NIL pool is closer to the elites than it's been since cfb started.

You don’t get why fans of a football team are concerned about whether their football team will be good, bad, or terrible next season?

I would bet my CF account that Rogers did not tell guys if they enter the portal they will not be welcome back.

I’ll also bet my account a few guys do come back.
Rogers took several guys back last year at Washington St.

I’m honestly confused abut our NIL pool - most posters here are saying we are losing our team because we can’t afford to pay what they are asking. That they were taking less than market value out of loyalty to Campbell. That would imply we may be replacing them with less expensive and less talented players. And as you say, our team wasn’t super talented to begin with. I think 6 wins seems doable but we’ll need the pieces to gel into a team quickly.
