***Official portal tracker thread***

This isn't directed specifically at you but to add to the point of Clone52...it's not about stroking an ex Clone ego, nor being happy they left, playing nice so to speak etc...but holding ourselves, as Cyclones fans to a different level of Fandom-we don't act that way because we are Cyclones Fans. I just listened to TJ's opening statement after the game last night...That's a high consistent standard; one we should challenge ourselves in any situation to attain.
Jeremiah Cooper made his share of money while at Iowa State. I am not dismissing a "Student Athlete" I am suggesting a "Professional Athlete" to go somewhere else to get his ego stroked. Most of these guys are now well paid professionals. Heck the new guy Golden at Ole Miss said he had a couple of players living in the same gated community that he lived in.

They don't put someone's name on a building/plaza without them being a serious donor. Is he giving millions a year? Probably not, but he is a big donor to ISU.

Yes, for physical features (plazas and buildings). No, to building a $30M football roster.

I do know that the family also is friends or has some connection to TJ as well as TJ lives in the neighborhood and backs up to his golf course.

Correct. Albaugh went to school at DMACC.

I'm pretty sure he donates to ISU, but not to the level that would be game changing. I'm also pretty sure his son-in-law is a pretty big ISU fan. They routinely name some of their race horses with some sort of ISU theme. My favorite is below....

Yea, unfortunately the money is giving both the athlete and fan a different perspective-and reality.

I am not afraid to admit that I listen to Two Guys more for Hassel than CW....yeah Hassel is a Hawk but he's also just genuinely funny.
Agree. Of course, humor is subjective so there will be some people who find Williams more funny and others that think Hassel is funnier. It's all subjective and neither are wrong. I think Williams humor is very surface level, which can be funny at times. Hassel has a dry, cutting humor that I find very funny, regardless of who it is.

I mean did Campbell himself ever say he was a forever Cyclone (aka Snyder/Ferentz)? Maybe I'm just misremembering but did he ever say he was "different"? Did he also not build a legacy at Iowa State? He got Iowa State to levels we have never even come close to seeing.
True. The guy didn't come out and say "I'm staying at Iowa State forever despite whatever happens." And all coaches say certain things, to some degree. I can't cite specific quotes, but I think most would agree that Matt certainly gave us all the impression he was here for the long haul, no matter what.

And yes, he did leave a legacy. His legacy is a guy who elevated the program, achieved some success, and left for another gig. He's Earl Bruce now. He could've been Dan McCarney with bigger success.

The list of coaches that have been with their team for a decade is pretty short.

It's the owner of CF, Dennys son in low that lives isu. I don't know how much he actually loves the university, he had more ties to DMAAC.

Yes Albaugh has given a lot of money to DMACC. If I remember correctly he gave all the money to build the nursing school building as one example.

He lifted us up. One thing people want to forget is that every coach before him had a lot tougher conference to contend with. The big 8 was a monster. When you have 3 top 10 teams it’s tough. The original big 12 was not much easier. The conference progressively became easier. Especially the last two years. Each coach we have had had has an easier conference to contend with.

Schlimgen and Palano would be the start of a really good (and fairly young) LB core.

One thing that didn't cross my mind initially, but the techniques guys play on defense will be night and ay different than what they've done previously. I listened to a podcast with Rogers former coach and he said something along the lines of "Cyclone fans better be ready for something totally different on that side of the ball." Makes some sense that they would want to bring in new guys over there familiar with their style. For example, he mentioned they play a lot of press man on the outside. Guys like Jontez could absolutely do that, but they've built a career (and value) on playing in a very different system.
