***Official Olympics Discussion***

Ya those parents were helicopter parents if I've ever seen them.

On a side note, I like the Chobani commercials. Didn't know about their story until these commercials .

No kidding.

SPOILER ALERT!!!

I saw this article about Wieber (don't read if you don't know the results).

Heartbreaking. Not looking forward to that moment coming up tonight. Nothing like having your dreams crushed on national tv.

Jordyn Wieber's Olympic dreams come to bitter end in London

This sucks as she was the one member of the women's team that I really cared about. After all the SJ withdrawal I don't care about Gabby D whatsoever.

Wasn't she suppose to be the best of the bunch?

yes, that's why it's so sad.

Clark-that's one of the best-written pieces I've seen a sportswriter put together in quite a while. It hurt reading that.

agreed. I can't even imagine how much that hurts. My worry now is it will affect her during the team competition. The US needs her.

I was rooting for her too. Obviously I'll root for any American, I just hope the girl that got her spot isn't a one night wonder.

I'm really worried that's exactly what she is. Weiber wasn't exactly a slouch - she was 4th overall. In any other scenario, she'd be through to the all-around. It sounds like this Aly girl is solid but nothing spectacular. I hope she has another crazy good night for the all-around, but I'm so sad for Weiber who had a great, great shot at the all-around.

eta: but go Gabby, that girl is like a damn little butterfly out there all smiles and flitting about so effortlessly.
