Official ISU vs Texas Autopsy Thread (Post-Game)

That was one of the most pathetic games I've ever seen. So much for Chizik having some insight on how to play Texas, a team that really is not so good and has struggled to beat verrry bad teams. I wonder if Chizik is able to be an effective head coach at all. The play calling was ... well... pathetic and there were no adjustments at all. Texas' backups beat our starters like a pulp. I am guessing that this isn't the only game where opposing defenses will defeat our offense in scoring.... The talent is certainly there, where are the coaches?

Ok seriously? Did you really expect something more for this game? Texas has talent 3 deep, has the same coach, same plan, same confidence. How can you expect a patchwork team like us to really put a dent in that? For crying out, it was embarassing, but I expected this and I expect it next weekend as well. And did you honestly believe that Chizik would have inside info? Gimme a break. Texas most likely expected that and changed things up. Thats what good teams do. I will expect more from ISU when the current roster is cycled out and Chizik has 60% or bmore of his own crew who will know nothing but his plan. Today sucked, but get over it, move on, and be ready to cheer them on next week.

The talent is there? You're probably the only 1 who thinks so. We have 3-1 preseason talent and o-fer B12 talent. Honestly -- painfully honestly we do NOT have the personnel. Coaching is fine but you need the players...

Question: Why in god's name did Singleton (I think) not let that kickoff go OB? We can't block for crap, yet he catches it at the 5, and gets tackled at the 10. That was the most frustrating play for me to watch and think about. I mean, he knew it was close, because he had to make sure he didn't step out, yet caught it anyway.

Why the **** did we have defenders getting to Meyer without ever being touched by one of our guys?

Why did they have guys literally STANDING in the endzone, with no coverage around them?

And that first play... yeah. Enough said.

I hope to see a shake up of the line up next week, because the people that were out there today really didn't seem to care

Well put. And: Meyer continues to disappoint (esp for a 4 yr starter). Telegraphs his passes and VERY often nowhere close to the receiver. Let see Arnaud start next week. We can do no worse.

Blythe seems to play as if his freshman year will get him into the NFL. Dropped balls in the hands and a general apathy to every poor throw, misread, or bad route.

The bright side of the day was Scales. Had lots of solid runs and generally seemed to give 110%.

For all you young guys--- now you know how 1994 felt. Although 2003 (and 2nd half of 2002) wasn't much different....

May God bless Coach Chizik in his work over the next few years...

Yes, I did. Did I neccasirly expect us to put a dent in Texas? Maybe not, but I expected us to show up and play the game anyways. Frankly I am pissed because it really looked like we weren't even trying. I have travelled to every game this year so far to support this team, I have stuck out every game to the bitter end, even cheering on the road when we're down by 40 points in the 4th quarter.

But I do not like supporting a team that isn't trying. It was one thing a few weeks ago when we actually were putting effort into the game, but today was just awful. Not much point putting effort into supporting a team that isn't putting any effort in themselves, all that I accomplished today was making my headache worse.

I don't care if we did or did not have a chance, we should have played like we did and we didn't. **** we may as well not have even put pads on today.:confused::eek::realmad::eek::confused::no:

I expected a close game. Every game this season Ive expected a close game. Being a season ticket holder, I like to stay and get my moneys worth, but we had to leave early because that game was embarassing. I don't know if the team is quitting on Chizik or if they have lost all confidence but like everyone has said, they didnt show up. I can't hardly see a single positive from that embarassment today.

I really dont think they didnt try even if it looked like it. They came out agressive on offense and got caught with their pants down on defense. They when they couldnt make anything more happen on offense it knocked them out mentally and they couldnt focus anymore. I saw quite a few players busting their humps to get some stuff done but were man-handled by the confident texas. Like I said before it will take a whole cycle Chizik players to really see some progress. This year is proof you cant teach some old dogs new tricks.

I made that same comment today, it seemed like I was back in college in the mid 90s. Hoping we don't get beat by 50 and trying to see how long we can put up with bad football. This is the worst team I have seen since the 90s.

Were you out of the country in '03 or LAST year Brian???

2003 I would agree with. I wouldn't agree with you in 2006. #1 we won 4 games (I don't care how we won, we still won). #2 we at least played relatively close to the big boys...we lost at Texas 37-14 and at OU 34-9. This year we lost AT HOME to Texas 56-3 and it may be worse than that this weekend. It's called taking a step back this year.

I'm not a huge football fan, but even I knew that ISU was outclassed by Texas on Saturday. They were much smaller and much slower than the big Texas boys.

However, I had a lot of fun at my first ever ISU game.

It was nice meeting you Jeremy, ISUFan, Mrs.ISUFan22, DaddyMac, and everyone else at the CycloneFanatic tent.

"I've come to the conclusion that this will take three to four years to get to a bowl. I'd be pretty surprised if it happens next year."

i cant believe u thought we had the talent to go to a bowl this year.

In three years we play Oklahoma and Texas again. If we do not bowl in 2009, it may be 2012 before we bowl. Looks like Gene may hang around longer than we thought. Our coach can be called Dan Chizik.
