GORs are not intended to expire. They are meant to be renewed for additional lengths of time prior to their expiration.

And if a school wants out of a particular conference, that team likely won't sign the GOR renewal, which tips their hand. If schools are going to play musical conferences again, any discussions will be started well in advance of the their GOR renewal date, since once a school hesitates to renew, it's becomes obvious that they have other plans.

Just read Frank the Tank's blog. Very good objective analysis. If the Big 12 expanded this year, or next, I'd favor Cinci, and Tulane. Cinci for the reasons Frank gave, and Tulane for it's potential upside, and for being in a very fertile recruiting state of Louisiana.

Edit: Plus BYU just carries too much baggage with it.

Had to look...Clinkscale is the DB's coach at Cincy....I question whether a huge story like that (and one that would be preferred to keep quiet) would flow down to the DB's coach.

Hey, maybe he does know, but maybe it's a cheap lie to get over the...hey why would I play at Cincy when I got offers from the Big 12 (and yes, I know Cincy's been pretty good, only putting out an alternative theory as to why a coach may say something like that).

If we added Tulane I'd rather go to a road game @Tulane than any non-BCS caliber bowl game. Give them Big 12 caliber opposition and I bet their core fans/alum get some good tailgating going if they haven't already. Major college football right in New Orleans could be pretty special even if they only have a small core of fans. Worst case scenario it's a situation like Northwestern games here where basically Chicago becomes a party city for OSU/Mich/PSU/Neb/Wisc/Iowa fans several weekends a year.

It's interesting at the time most of teh fans here were down on Louisville and now they all think we should have added them. I always wanted Louisville and BYU the minute the first teams started leaving, in retrospect I think I was right about Louisville and wrong on BYU. I think most can admit now that Louisville was a better choice than TCU in about every way and we know they'd have jumped at the chance.

Did I read that right? People are actually thinking about Tulane as a viable option? You know, the objective of expansion is to make the conference better, not worse.

i would say no to Tulane. I am still hoping they go after a couple of florida schools. at worst UCONN and Cincy.

Assuming ACC teams are out and we had some reason to pressure expansion to 12 and a title game my choices would rank:

Cinci
USF
UCF
Tulane
BYU
after that it's a real reach.

If we hadn't added WVU I could have been stronger on BYU and 1-3 other mountain time zone teams or even a west coast SDSU. Since we're in the eastern time zone I'm kind of down on any westward options. Wish we could add UConn then trade the ACC for Louisville.

Considering we are dead last in football right now I don't think we have the right to say if a team would make the conference better or not. If we left and almost any other program came in that alone would make the b12 better.

Sure we do. Kansas could beat Tulane.

Tulane provides nothing, and I mean nothing.

Good scholastics at tulane versus the two Florida schools.

I think that you're wrong there. Adding a couple of beatable schools to the conference and splitting back into divisions would give the better teams a better average record (somewhere in this thread there was some information on how that is what the SEC does) and a conference championship game.

The trick will be adding the right schools so not to dilute the payouts too much.

I'm sure indiana state, idaho state and illinois state would jump at the invite.

Ironically I looked up Idaho State's schedule and who did they beat to start the football season...DIXIE STATE! Bring them in, they're > UNLV
