I'll still believe it when i see it. We've had these flare-ups of rumors before.
When Dienhart asks that question something is going down. Its not a question of IF UNC comes it is what is going to happen.

Delaney's Dream is to have the Big Ten Network be another ESPN with schools coast to coast. Not sure how many times you can dilute research dollars from the original schools before they get unhappy.

I'm sure the Big 10 school presidents would be pretty content with schools like Georgia Tech and UNC.

Twitter blows up about literally everything. I'd bet even odds Twitter even blew up last night about wiping while standing up.

It doesn't mean anything. 1,000,000 people post about the same thing with zero actual sources.
They would not have pushed the button if they were confident the three were ready to roll. UVA already completed their plan.

Lets put Iowa in the same pod as Maryland, Rutgers, UNC, and UVA. They would have a lot of frequent flier miles.

You are correct. I am merely pointing it out...

Big 10 would only take 2 more. > 16 teams just does not work. Heck greater than 12 does not work, but still.

These are Big Ten rumors, when there's a Big Ten rumor it usually means they are getting a new team.

PSU - pre-interwebz buzz
Neb - turned out true very quickly
Mizzou - turned out true there were talks, B1G passed
Rutgers - were rumors for many, many years, eventually happened shortly after surprise Maryland add
Maryland - there were hardly any rumors about this, but it did happen the minute it was rumored
Texas - there were talks behind rumors, nothing happened, it dragged on years after it was dead because of fan arrogance

So past experience suggests it's almost certain the B1G is talking to UNC, GT, UVA and possibly others right now, and that at least two more schools are likely to join them. Texas seems like the only school to have ever passed. The others join or beg to join and don't get a concrete offer.

Today is the first I've heard in all of this chatter for weeks/months that Duke is a package deal w/ UNC. That could really mess up the GTech offer, if true. I had thought that UNC, UVA, and GT were a solid fit. This Duke development could mean they're adding 4 this round (6 total including Maryland and Rutgers).

I would still love to see VTech come over with Clemson, FSU, Miami.

Have I said how happy I am that Iowa State isn't included in the butchery that is re-allignment this time around?

I actually kind of believe this. The Maryland 247 site was all over the Maryland/Rutgers rumors to the Big 10.

If Maryland, Rutgers, UVA, UNC is the end game it makes sense in every way but football quality.

That conference would need to play 10 games and have a scheduling arrangement with a top 3 conference and ND to have a chance at consistently placing a team in a four team playoff unless this new selection committee ignores data and selects logos. Ohio State's computer #s sucked this year because of the B1G getting owned by the MAC, those four adds are going to make it suck even worse.

I can't see the FSU stuff being true with all these non-marquee football schools being added. Maryland, Rutgers, UVA and UNC are not the required bait needed to lure their fans and alum into playing in frigid regions of the country. If FSU/GT had been 13/14 and that's it, it might have been more realistic.
