**** daylight savings

Compromise: change it by 30 minutes and call it good.

Better compromise. Get rid of DST and timezones all together. Use GMT and adjust your schedule to when it’s daytime in your area. This notion of everyone works from 8:00 to 5:00 is outdated. If it’s light out from 1:00 PM to 1:00 AM, well that’s your daytime now.

Of cours, I think we all need to know what Patrick Mahomes and LeBron James thinks of Daylight Savings Time.

I had this same thought, but as a software developer I immediately died a little inside
Even getting rid of DST is a bit of a hassle, but I guess probably not more so than a few years ago when they changed the DST start and end times. If they allow states to opt out its going to be a bigger mess.

As a software developer what I really want to get rid of are leap seconds. They are truly the devil and the next one will probably be negative so it is even worse. Scrap them and let people a few hundred thousand years from now add an extra leap day (or skip one) if they want to get things back in sync.

Really with global warming the whole system needs inverted. In the summer you needed to start getting up earlier to avoid the heat of day outside and get going. And in the winter they won't be as harsh so you can just go outside later after work.

Permanent DST was tried. Most people disliked it in the winter, which led to its eventual reversal even after regaining some popularity over the summer. “Who cares about morning light?” You. Your body. Millions of years of evolution, that’s who. That’s great if you personally don’t feel any differently when the clocks change and think everyone is a wimp, but that’s not a great argument for a national law, something that was rejected 10 months after being passed. And maybe we’ll adapt to changing conditions on Earth over time, but that would be a very long from now. @RING4CY hit the nail on the head. If you don’t like dark and cold in the winter, move somewhere warmer, because the hour we’re arguing about isn’t turning into two or four no matter what, so I think we should stick to circadian rhythm

To the person who mentioned starting school later and adjusting other schedules, I’m open to that and find it a much more interesting discussion

I've seen people suggest that before, and it's always an absolutely terrible idea
