WTH.. just saw on the news that 15 Iowa DOT plows were hit on Wednesday.
Another one was hit today,

Just a day after officials with the Iowa Department of Transportation warned drivers to use caution while snow plows are on the roads, another plow was hit.

DOT posted this last week. Car comes flying up on a plow that is putting off a cloud of snow and manages to drive right into the back of it.
Either that person was on their phone or incredibly stupid or both.

That's pretty sad that as a society we need to be warned by the DOT to use caution around snow plows. I thought that was pretty common knowledge but I guess not.Another one was hit today,

There is a dangerous epidemic of people driving while being on their phones. I would say most of the people who pass me on four lane highways well over the speed limit are doing it while looking at their phones. Except for one outlier year (2020), car crashes in Iowa bottomed out in 2012 after decades of decline and has been increasing since. It's pretty obvious why.
Always error on the side of caution. If I were a superintendent, that would be easy to defend.
And that's part of the reason why we're seeing some of these people leave their jobs.
It still blows my mind that this is happening. Like, outside of live severe weather reporting, what other reason does anyone have to tune in to local news?
Due to the fact that the previous snow had packed because it was close to freezing Friday, there was little blowing and drifting on the roads yesterday. I should have been aware of this. Interstate 35, driving to the game yesterday was spotless.
Yup they showed a guy hitting a plow close to DSM. They must have been going twice as fast as the plow was going.
Ground has to be freezing really far down this year. Not even that much snow out in the fields in story county right now.
I initially was happy with just some precipitation for how dry it's been but then realized it's been consistently very cold this year so I'd wonder how much of this goes into the ground.
Might flush the rivers/creeks out pretty good though when it melts.
Dang! Better than last year at least. After this week though I would be fine if we get thawing going.
My neighbor told me don’t push snow when you get close to grass because you will tear up your grass. I said the ground has to be froze, but I guess it ain’t frozen everywhere.
Would think it’s froze everywhere in Iowa. Everywhere has pretty much had cold temps with little snow cover at some point this winter.
Going to be a lot of schools canceling and delaying classes this week, KCCi is talking record lows at night, -15 and -13 Wed and Thursday nights.
WHO predicted 6-7 inches total accumulation from Saturday in Warren County and we got zilch. That's a big miss.
