Still a bit out but looks like they dropped the forecast amount some. WU says about 3 inches for Des Moines Sunday:

But how much snow?
Wait, are we mocking Mother Nature because it is only going to be -20 instead of -40? We sure this is wise?
To be fair the wind chill wil be 73 when I land in Miami tomorrow
The system for Sunday appears to be trending South which doesn't hurt my feelings a bit. A couple days out yet for an accurate projection, but WU is predicting a foot for Kansas City.
The 10 day forecasts I've seen so far all show highs in the teens and low 20s around that time. I've see nothing about -40 wind chills.

Funny that my Storm Radar app gave me the Emergency Broadcast System Alert sound for a snow squall that is effective until 8:30 here in Ames.
The alert sounded very scary but we got a dusting of snow and it seems like it’s only lightly snowing now. Very weird.
Snow squalls shouldn’t be taken lightly, my first and only snow-related car accident happened during one (before the NWS started issuing warnings for them)… the white-out conditions they cause can happen very suddenly.
I was expecting way worse snow after my phone made the amber alert style sounds.
Nice to get phone emergency alerts for this catastrophic 1-2" dusting we're getting this morning. What alert do they use for an actual snow storm?
The squall alert is big for highway and interstate driving mainly. In town it’s not as bad, but there are areas within that warning that can be at zero visibility at times. It’s better to put out the alert than not.
