Exact same thing happened to me. Except my contractor buddy pointed it out to my insurance adjuster and they paid.
We didn't catch it, and when we replaced it, the guy we brought in wanted to know why didn't replace the unit in the spring? We told him our adjuster did not catch it. He stated they tried to straighten out the blades on some units and it was cheaper to just replace the outside unit then mess with trying to fix them the insurance company decided.

I've never seen hail like that. Crazy

Definitely very damaging hail, looked to be about golf ball sized to me. I wonder if they try and file for insurance, unless they buy a specific policy with for storm chasers shouldn't be covered when you intentionally drive into bad weather and continue to drive into heavy hail.

Very nice soaking rain today. Quite the contrast to the last storm were I finally saw a tornado in person, from my front porch.

Looks like rain chances the rest of week after today, according to the NWS. We had over 1.5 inches here in North Ames, just got done mowing and trimming the yard, figured I better get it done today, or it would be the weekend before I would be able to get to it because of the rain.
