Happ is doing what he always does, he's having a slightly below average year. He was never more than and average outfielder.Ian Happ and Dansby are the biggest victims of the Ricketts choosing not to spend. They are both the exact players they've always been and have fair deal in the market (Happ may be a hair under market) but since the Ricketts refuse to spend like a big market club, it makes the fan base think that they're supposed to be providing superstar production for what they're paid which is in the 'very good' range and not the 'elite' range.
PCA what the F.
PCA goes 3 for 3 today and what we will remember is sliding way off the base.

This is what I don't understand. "What he always does" is not slightly below average by any stretch.Happ is doing what he always does, he's having a slightly below average year. He was never more than and average outfielder.

I mean we can argue if he is average or slightly above average, doesn't really matter. Point is, he is what he is, I don't know why people get their hopes up and think he some sort of difference maker or think he is more than a serviceable outfielder. Not awful, not great. He's fine. This is what I don't understand. "What he always does" is not slightly below average by any stretch.
He plays gold glove outfield and has produced offense at 15% better than the "average" major leaguer over a 9 year career. So far this year, he has been pretty average, which is worse than what he always does.
He isn't a star but he is an above average major league player.
Epic stuff happening with this team.Haven't won a game in which we trailed at any point since July 2nd.
They signed those contracts before or during arbitration or were in there 30s. Ian Happ was one of the better looming free agents when he signed his and only signed a 3 year deal instead of a 6-7 in exchange for a NTC.I'm never going to agree with the Cub fans on this board who say the Cubs got a home team discount in signing Happ at $20M a year. He's a .240 hitter that will hit 20-25 HR's. There are a lot of MLB OF's that consistently put up those numbers and make $10-$15M a season.
I’ll agree that he is what he is. I guess I just don’t see the people who get their hopes up. Most that I see want him traded or benched. Right now I don't think it would have mattered.Frankly, we should. Game is on the line, and instead of a guy on second with no outs, we have nobody on with one out. MAJOR mistake there.
