*** Official 2025 Chicago Cubs Thread***

If our rotation stays healthy and with our defensive infield and PCA, we may not need any bats.
I agree, and it depends on your definition of need. I will be disappointed if we don't add a bat after losing Kyle Tucker, but it still could be a playoff caliber roster without one.

I'd rather have another sure thing and not have to rely on both Shaw and Mo, while still giving them their chances.

I agree. Find a defensive piece to give you some flexibility in right and go get someone for third base. I just don't think Shaw's bat is good enough.
I like that we haven’t added a utility guy yet. Leaves the possibility of Shaw filling that role if we get a third baseman. Currently our bench looks 60% fillled but the pieces look good

Amaya catching
Ballestareos 90% DH
Austin 1B
Alcantara OF I consider open
Utility hoping this ends being Shaw

I really hope the catchers can stay healthy and they split the catching like last year. They were both better doing that.

Another reason to add is our current team would only have four lefty bats. Ballestareos Happ PCA and Busch. That’s one of the drawbacks of The Jaguar as 4th OF. Not sure if any of the 3B options help with that.

Without knowing all the ins and outs of our farm system, this seems like an extremely good deal for the Cubs
One highly regarded prospect and two high ceiling/low floor lottery tickets.

DeLeon may certainly turn into something but that's a ways off.

It's a good deal.

Imagine being weeks away from getting to play at Wrigley in front of basically sold out crowds everyday (even in a limited role) and ending up playing 81 games in a gaudy airplane hangar in front of 1500 people every day.

Ouch.

Yeah only positive out of it for him is will probably be an everyday player now. That and far worse spots to live in than Miami.

I think an outfield of Stowers and Caissie would be pretty fun if I was a Marlins fan. That Marsee guy they had in CF had a pretty solid last two months of the season too

Just wish this was the move at the trade deadline this past July but assuming the Marlins asking price was much higher at that point.
