Agreed. He's been way better at home and he should be feeling as well physically as he has in a while. It's the right move.I'll probably be massively wrong, but I think Boyd is solid today. Calling 2 runs in 6 innings work.
I think there is decent change he's good today. Looking at season splits, he's actually been quite a bit better on 4 days rest than 5+ for the season.I'll probably be massively wrong, but I think Boyd is solid today. Calling 2 runs in 6 innings work.
Is my math off because if he goes thru the lineup twice he will have at least pitched 6 innings.I think there is decent change he's good today. Looking at season splits, he's actually been quite a bit better on 4 days rest than 5+ for the season.
That said, no chance in hell he's going 6 innings. Boyd/Shota/Taillon have pitched a total of 19.2 innings across six games. The longest any pitcher has gone in the postseason was Boyd's 4.1 IP in game 1 against SD and then Civale went 4.1 IP in mop duty of game 1 against MIL.
If he can get through the lineup twice I'll feel good. A great outcome out would be 4+ IP and 1 run.

I would be very happy if he makes it through the lineup twice within 6 inningsIs my math off because if he goes thru the lineup twice he will have at least pitched 6 innings.
Twice through lineup = 18 battersIs my math off because if he goes thru the lineup twice he will have at least pitched 6 innings.
6 innings would be phenomenal.I would be very happy if he makes it through the lineup twice within 6 innings
math is hard … I should probably stop working today as all I have been doing is calculations. You could technically go through the lineup twice in one inning. I think it would be pretty standard to take about 4 innings to go through the lineup twice when you factor in walks/hits.

Hey, I like your math. I'll sign up for a perfect game through 6 innings!math is hard … I should probably stop working today as all I have been doing is calculations.
But I still won't be happy without an offensive explosion to go along with it. Twelve Cubs runs should do it...Hey, I like your math. I'll sign up for a perfect game through 6 innings!![]()
Because our front office has given us very little to work withWhy Boyd again? Better be on a very short leash.
The worst guy at getting on base statistically is leading off. Odds are he’ll never hit there. So, here’s my probably dumb take on the lineup: I think you need to bat Horner 5th. You can’t count on anybody else to get contact with men on, so to try to make that work, here’s how I’d set the lineup:
1. PCA
2. Busch
3. Tucker
4. Suzuki
5. Hoerner
6. Happ
7. Kelly
8. Swanson
9. Shaw

Agree with the Hoerner take - would love him batting behind Tucker and Suzuki, two elite guys at getting on base
