Looks like frost on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning here in central Iowa. I can’t wait for that hard freeze to kill all these f***ing gnats. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s been so dry or what. Once harvest started all those little a**holes came out of the fields. We went to an orchard on Saturday and it was nearly unbearable.Looks like we're struggling to get moisture to return ahead of the cold front on Saturday. Trending drier. Fingers crossed.
It's these guys that are reeking havoc too....Pirate bug/no-see-em'sLooks like frost on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning here in central Iowa. We've had plenty of Thanksgivings hit the 60's or 70's. That's still a month and half out. When is it actually going to cool down. Still showing 70s over the weekend.
Terrible weather for harvesting crops too...We've had plenty of Thanksgivings hit the 60's or 70's. That's still a month and half out.
This is perfect weather right now (could use some rain though). High of mid 60's to low 70's. Lows in the 30s and 40s. Perfection.
Isn’t it great? Hoping for a repeat of last winter too. When is it actually going to cool down. Still showing 70s over the weekend.
I mowed the leaves and dust today in CR. I don't remember what rainfall looks like.Rainy season kicking into gear here. Had a great fall this year, though.
I don't get much for leaves so I am starting to think I have already mowed for the last time. I don't remember when the last time was but it was no later than early September.I mowed the leaves and dust today in CR. I don't remember what rainfall looks like.

I've mowed 3 times since August 1st - probably the least I can ever remember. We caught an inch and a half of rain from 9/19 - 9/22 which greened things back up. Mowed once after that and then once again last week before aerating. Really wanted to overseed this fall but that is out at this point.I don't get much for leaves so I am starting to think I have already mowed for the last time. If it's still there it'll germinate. More than likely birds and rodents will make it disappear before it has the chance. Other issue is if it germinates and then doesn't stay wet enough to take root the seed will die.I meant to pull myself off the list for aeration and overseeding and didn't do it in time. Is that seed a total waste or would it still germinate in the spring? I tried to water a little but I can't imagine it did much good.
I tried to aerate a few weeks ago with my pull-behind. I quickly realized how pointless it was. 150 pounds of weight sitting on it and it still bounced off the ground like it was concrete.I meant to pull myself off the list for aeration and overseeding and didn't do it in time.
