My furnace just died and we can't get a new one installed until Tuesday, so thankfully it hasn't been bad. Between a couple electric radiators and our gas fireplace, it's staying around 65 in there.

Yeah, this thing is original to the house ('98) and clearly had some serious dripping all throughout as there was rust all over the place. Tried to warn the wife this summer, but she didn't want to discuss it. If it was -20, I might bring that up now lolYou are 'lucky.' I just had my AC, Furnace and Water Heater replaced this yesterday. Not till Tuesday sucks. Boxster's Furnace Law seems to have been partially invoked. Furnace DO typically die on Fridays or early Saturday but usually when it is well below zero. At least that's been my experience.
So damn true. Had a newborn in the fall with temps dropping, there went the furnace. Remember that really hot game we hosted OU in football in early to mid September? a/c went out on Friday of that weekend. You are 'lucky.' What exactly does this mean in terms of next week's potential snow? Traditionally buying a new snowblower is a surefire way to prevent big snows. I'm at a loss about selling one!Put my two stage snowblower on a couple swap sites this morning and have had like 5 inquires on it already!! Nothing like hearing about a snow storm and people start to get excited. Posted it in November and no hits.
I have a total of three (two single stages) and need to move one. Plus I haven't really used it in a couple of years. What exactly does this mean in terms of next week's potential snow? Traditionally buying a new snowblower is a surefire way to prevent big snows. I'm at a loss about selling one!
The buyer gets no snow while the seller gets dumped on.What exactly does this mean in terms of next week's potential snow? Traditionally buying a new snowblower is a surefire way to prevent big snows. I'm at a loss about selling one!
Or if you are in Minnesota buying a snowmobile will prevent snowstorms. What exactly does this mean in terms of next week's potential snow? Traditionally buying a new snowblower is a surefire way to prevent big snows. I'm at a loss about selling one!
When was the last time Iowa got seriously dumped on (not talking football or men's basketball programs)The buyer gets no snow while the seller gets dumped on.
We had this happen in February when we lived in MSP. Furnace died on a Sunday night. It was around 60 in the house Monday morning. I'm scheduled to leave town for work on Wednesday. Highs in the teens, lows near 0 at this time. We had a one-year old at this point and a 70-year old house. You are 'lucky.' Slight shift north but still a lot of uncertainty as to track and how much warm air advection may impact things.Any updates on this storm? Furnace talk can go in another thread, right?
Agreed. Only weather and wieners in here.Any updates on this storm? Furnace talk can go in another thread, right?
Des Moines always has a bubble around it so I imagine we end up with trace amountsSlight shift north but still a lot of uncertainty as to track and how much warm air advection may impact things.
