My furnace just died and we can't get a new one installed until Tuesday, so thankfully it hasn't been bad. Between a couple electric radiators and our gas fireplace, it's staying around 65 in there.
You are 'lucky.' In my experience they like to show their 'unsightly sides' at the worst possible times. Like when it is -20 on new years day.

Yeah, this thing is original to the house ('98) and clearly had some serious dripping all throughout as there was rust all over the place. Tried to warn the wife this summer, but she didn't want to discuss it. If it was -20, I might bring that up now lol

Not till Tuesday sucks. Boxster's Furnace Law seems to have been partially invoked. Furnaces DO typically die on Fridays or early Saturday but usually when it is well below zero. At least that's been my experience.

I just had my AC, Furnace and Water Heater replaced this yesterday.
Holy crap on the checkbook, but I didn't want to fall victim to this as mine were on their last leg.

So damn true. Had a newborn in the fall with temps dropping, there went the furnace. Remember that really hot game we hosted OU in football in early to mid September? a/c went out on Friday of that weekend.

Put my two stage snowblower on a couple swap sites this morning and have had like 5 inquires on it already!! Nothing like hearing about a snow storm and people start to get excited. Posted it in November and no hits.

What exactly does this mean in terms of next week's potential snow? Traditionally buying a new snowblower is a surefire way to prevent big snows. I'm at a loss about selling one!

I have a total of three (two single stages) and need to move one. Plus I haven't really used it in a couple of years.

We had this happen in February when we lived in MSP. Furnace died on a Sunday night. It was around 60 in the house Monday morning. I'm scheduled to leave town for work on Wednesday. Highs in the teens, lows near 0 at this time. We had a one-year old at this point and a 70-year old house.

We pay a rush fee to have a furnace guy come diagnose it that day. The thing is 30+ years old and shot. But they can't get a new one in for 5 days. We called someone else, they guaranteed install by Thursday.

We all stayed in our place the first night with no heat. Me, my wife, our daughter, and dogs all slept in one big bed. Got up and the house was about 45 degrees. We kept it manageable with space heaters but I was not comfortable keeping them on overnight. Wife and daughter went to a hotel for two nights. I stayed with the dogs the next night before I had to leave town.

When the furnace guy showed up, the thermostat (analog) on the main level was bottomed out (it only went down to 40 degrees). Thankfully our basement stayed about 50 degrees the whole time and nothing froze.

If you've got a shaky furnace, maybe buy a new one now and set it aside in the basement...
