I....
Need some damn visits scheduled
Just saw Jared's article after I posted that. Can't wait!Current dead period through noon, 4/6. Expect excitement, visits, and/or general carnage starting Thursday afternoon.
I think many are significantly overrating Sallis in this thread.
He may be worth a flyer with our 3rd scholarship but we are in on better players. He's very athletic and a good defender but was a pretty underwhelming offensive player. Oh and he literally played on the best offensive team in the country.
I think he'd be better off going somewhere like Nebraska where he is guaranteed 30 minutes a game. At Iowa State or Creighton I'm not sure his role would be much different than Gonzaga. Feels like a Tristan Enaruna type situation when he left KU as we are now two years removed from that 5 star recruiting label.
Position less basketball is a great concept, but the reality is taller players have advantages over shorter players at certain spots on the court and quicker players have advantages in other spots/situations.Gotta stop being obsessed with the ”3s, 4s, 5s” etc. Apart from the pg this is mostly position-less basketball. We do not need to assign who is going to ”play the 5” nor do we need to have a 5 on the floor.
Switching 1-5 doesn't mean that you won't have disadvantages at times when you do it. It just means that you have the capability of defending that mismatch well enough that your advantages outweigh your disadvantages overall.Position less basketball is a great concept, but the reality is a taller players have advantages over shorter players at certain spots on the court and quicker players have advantages.
So by using the 1-5 indicates physical or basketball skill-sets. Very few players are perfect and can do everything.
Sure Momcilovic can play on the perimeter and shoot 3 on offense all day long. But he doesn't have the quickness to guard small ball 3's. Not a criticism- I wouldn't want Tre King, Kunc, Ossuniyi, Ward or Jones to be the primary defender on a Rice, George, Gdick, OBannon, etc.
IMO being able to switch 1-5 is more coach speak vs reality. Good coaches and players excel when they get mismatches of posts(4/5) on guards (1-3).
Might be wondering if he can get paid similarly for NIL vs going pro in Europe.A few days ago he said he was going to explore professional options but maintain eligibility. Hmmm
My thoughts exactly. 6'1 shot maker who doesn't play defense is more valuable at a "blue blood" vs proMight be wondering if he can get paid similarly for NIL vs going pro in Europe.
Not really, people use 1-5 now because it’s just different now. Most teams don’t use the traditional PG-SG-SF-PF-C that they used to. 1-5 covers that. Could be three guards and two forwards, four guards and a Center… and so on.Gotta stop being obsessed with the ”3s, 4s, 5s” etc. Apart from the pg this is mostly position-less basketball. We do not need to assign who is going to ”play the 5” nor do we need to have a 5 on the floor.
Honest question - what does the dead period even represent? There have already been multiple visits and commitments announced. Clearly there has been on-going communication with teams & players for quite some time.Current dead period through noon, 4/6. During the dead period, coaches may not have any in-person contact with recruits and/or their parents. But communication is still allowed to occur via phone, email and social media/other digital communication channels.
