At Purdue he'd be one of the shorter ones.In what world is Foster a guard?
Basile reminds me of Ryan Hawkins from Creighton. A couple inches taller and more of a stretch 5 than a versatile 4 like Hawkins. But Basile certainly can handle it a little as well as step out and shoot.
Basile went 20-42 (47.6%) from three as a Sophomore. This year he was 39-137 (28.5%) as a Junior. Moral of the story, he's a legit threat from outside but he should not be leading a team in three point attempts. His usage got a little high everywhere this past year. Offensive rating as a junior was 124.6. For reference, Jaz is our current team's highest at 118.8.
I’m a “you never can have too many good guard types” but if all return, it’s certainly not the top need. This is my favorite in terms of reasonable acquisition and fit for the team I expect to return next year. I just don’t see the need for a guard, unless it’s an alpha elite scorer (and IB doesn’t come back)
Here's the list of all guards who currently could be on the team next year:I’m a “you never can have too many good guard types” but if all return, it’s certainly not the top need.
Spring recruiting is now a sport in itself. A go-to scoring option in the front court would be nice this year, let alone next year if we lose Kunc. I wonder though, is someone like Basile better able to be that than Kunc or Enaruna were this year? Is it also design?
Hopefully we'll have 5 bigs which would limit us to 8 guards and we absolutely need to add a veteran shooter. Here's the list of all guards who currently could be on the team next year:
Brockington
Kalscheur
Hunter
Grill
Walker
Jackson
Lipsey
King
Watson
that's... a lot?
What are the numbers far left?

The worst collection of SAT scores that ever graced the hardwood. What are the numbers far left?
A lot, yet room for better. Imo it’s just how college basketball works now. Rosters are year to year, trying to upgrade it every spring. With our offense this past year, there’s room for a 4th starter-level guard, both in minutes and volume, imo. Add in the high risk at least one of those guards isn’t on the roster, and I could see it being equal in priority. Here's the list of all guards who currently could be on the team next year:

I believe that player's transfer rank. So, not exactly world beaters. What are the numbers far left?
Former top 50 recruit Gerald Liddell. Played 3 years at Texas.
Based on body-type I was considering Watson a guard and Tre King a post.King and Watson aren't guards and there's likely a couple defections in there. But I think it's fair to say that we won't be targeting small guards in the portal. Maybe if they're elite shooters that happens but on paper we're pretty set in that category going forward...
Tyrese Hunter (6'0") Sophomore
Caleb Grill (6'3") Junior
Tamin Lipsey (6'2") Freshmen
Eli King (6'3") Freshmen
Kalscheur (6'4") Senior???
Brockington (6'4") Senior???
The staff will know who's back after the season but having 4-5 small guards locked in on the roster makes me think we target a bigger guard/wing shooter to surround Tyrese and Tamin's distributing skills.
Yeah, if Brockington isn't back, we definitely need an elite scorer.Based on body-type I was considering Watson a guard and Tre King a post.
Assume both IB and Gabe aren't back, I could see us getting an elite scorer at the guard spot (AJ Green or similar), but mainly as you said we need wings and posts.
