You give me 25min of electricity and I give you a three cheese tortellini with vodka Mushroom sauce and roasted chicken.

Power went out while I was cutting the chicken but I got my bathtub filled up with warm water and took a bath. Gonna let it go completely cold before I drain it. Also boiled several gallons of water to warm the kitchen up. Thermostat got up to 59 (in the kitchen though) before power went back down.

It went up for another 10min or so and then it's been back down for a while. We'll see how it goes tonight. But a warm meal and a warm bath has definitely lifted my spirits considerably.

I’m reading your posts in a “letters from the civil war” type of vibe.

Made it to -2F in Longview, TX. Kept the faucets at a steady drip and they have not frozen. And I have not lost power.

I'm doing my part to use as little electricity as possible.

From the "Structures and Mechanical Systems Hate This Weather" file, we have something weird going on with two windows in the finished portion of our basement in central Iowa. There is ice pushing out from between the foundation wall and window trim right at the edges of the window opening. Initial hunch is that it's condensation from the humidified furnace air freezing near the window? There is some ductwork within the drop ceiling a couple feet from this wall. I don't see it around the non finished windows elsewhere.

I've checked everywhere else, including at the base and under the carpet at this wall, and I don't see signs of water or moisture anywhere else in the basement. Thoughts?

The windows in our upstairs bedroom are completely iced over from the inside. They are the only windows that have this issue. It also just happens to be our workout room, so humidity tends to be the highest in the house. So from my perspective, that could make sense as an explanation for you too.
