***Official 2021 NCAA Tournament Thread***

It's obvious now the teams in the Pac12 and Loyola were seeded too low. Big10 too high.
But the only seeding outrage I heard from the talking heads prior to play beginning was Michigan St. (too low) and BYU (too high).

What on earth did Loyola do to earn better than the seed they got? Their only game against a decent team all year was a 14 point loss to an OK Wisconsin team. They were seeded fine. They have just played better than the seed they earned.

KU's beatdown must have really effected you. This is all you've got?
Feel free to provide me a legitimate argument based on the facts as of Selection Sunday as to why Loyola deserved a higher seed than they received. As good a one as I can come with to support it is "they were 10th in the NET rankings" but Colgate, who got seeded at #14, was 9th so that apparently isn't the be all end all for the selection committee.

This season was impossible to seed accurately because of how many non-con games were cancelled or changed to be something different. There just weren't as many legit opportunities for teams like Loyola to build their resume as they would normally have.

With you for the most part, highlighted differences. I think Syracuse's defense will give Houston issues.

Since 1985, here are the 6 times that Big Ten has had exactly 1 team in the Sweet Sixteen

1985 - Illinois
1986 - Michigan State
1997 - Minnesota
2004 - Illinois
2007 - Ohio State
2021 - Michigan

The Big 10 had no Sweet Sixteen teams in 1995, 1996 and 2006

It's scheduled to return to the usual Th-F-S-Sun for second weekend in '22, but I wonder if this year's altered setup might be better?

Each game gets its own slot in Sweet 16, instead of having overlapping starts. And Elite 8 games are all prime time anyway, just shifted to weekdays instead of weekend.

Wonder which way is favorable from network/viewership (that'd be the train-driver if they ever decide to change it as the standard).
