Is it just me or does he kind of look like our greatest grad transfer success?Elijah Olaniyi is a stud. Does it all.
Stony Brook was comparable to Drake last year FWIW. Finished 2nd to a really good Vermont team in the American East.
Not that ISU was connected to DP, but there was some speculation Prohm should. Also could affect JC-L’s recruitment depending on USC’s scholly count.
Breaking: USC lands Rice transfer Drew Peterson, he told @Stockrisers. Andy Enfield’s fourth transfer commitment this cycle. “Ready to do big things here. We’ve got a great shot to win the conference title.

Grill getting worked by cam mcgriff twice in the span of 2 weeks is a visual I still have a hard time removing from my memoryYeah Bolton, Nixon, Grill, and Jackson were not poor defenders when guarding guys that were reasonable matchups. Anyone 6'4" or under those guys did okay on, however the fact that Lewis and Griffin could rarely see the floor, it required us to be severely mismatched at that 3 and 4 position constantly throughout games.
Yeah that guy was a nightmare for us. Him and the Desmond Bane type guys are the exact model of player we couldn't match up with.Grill getting worked by cam mcgriff twice in the span of 2 weeks is a visual I still have a hard time removing from my memory
Hopefully Johnson can come in and match up well with those types, and one of Dubar or Blackwell can come in and give solid minutes off the bench with their length.Yeah that guy was a nightmare for us. Him and the Desmond Bane type guys are the exact model of player we couldn't match up with.
Johnson is very long and should be able to match up with those types of guys well. Dubar and Blackwell have similar builds and are pretty athletic, but both are freshman and will definitely have a learning curve. Between those two, I personally think Blackwell will be a better defender.Hopefully Johnson can come in and match up well with those types, and one of Dubar or Blackwell can come in and give solid minutes off the bench with their length.
Agree on Blackwell. He seems like a guy that might be able to come in and get minutes even if his game isn’t as refined as others. I love his length and ability to pass and defend at a high level early on.Johnson is very long and should be able to match up with those types of guys well. Yeah I don't know what we'll get out of Blackwell in the half court on offense, but I'm extremely excited about the other aspects of his game. His athleticism and ability to get out and run will be fun to watch in transition. Although it's coming from his high school highlights and it doesn't always translate, he seems to crash the O-boards a ton. His highlights have a lot of put back dunks and that's certainly something we could use.Agree on Blackwell. I bet we end up with one guy we don't know about yet or who has yet to enter his name into the portal. We usually end up going after a few at the end. Last year it was Grill, The kid that went to Georgia, and the French kid that ended up at Tech.
I'd definitely take a guy similar to Talley (minus the off the court issues) for next year.Grill and Talley were definitely late surprises.

Yeah that's definitely true. I guess who we end up getting late will all be determined by who we end up landing in the next couple of weeks. It'd also be nice to know whether or not Tyler Harris is going to try and get a waiver to play next year. I wonder if there would be any grounds for a waiver as well.I think the idea behind Johnson, Walker, Dubar, and Blackwell is they are all essentially Talley's build and size *without* his off-court issues, *with* his handle (or something like it), and *with more* outside shooting abilities than Talley had.
Talley with an outside shot would have been a really nice player.

Yeah you never really know with the NCAA.. And that plan looks pretty good to me!My ideal plan...
We get one of the "WANT!!!1" ones soon.
Pickup somebody late and unexpectedly in the Grill/Talley mold.
Hold one for a midyear. We should try to be more of a player there. Or heck, just save it for the next class of freshmen. We are officially only going to have one new one coming open with Solomon rides off into the sunset (sad face), so we might want more.
There was some speculation on here that Penny might have ran Harris off, which might be enough of a sympathetic story for a waiver.
"I was committed to being a student-athlete at the University of Memphis, but the University of Memphis was not committed to me."
Granted, guys get run all the time, but it might work.
Not very intriguing. I feel as though Steve could have had his pick of the litter of this type of guy. Flowers, Buggs, Salnave, Gomez, the kid that we made the final 4 for last week that we apparently never offered... the list goes on@jeffborzello East Tennessee State guard Daivien Williamson plans to enter the transfer portal, sources told ESPN. Averaged 10.4 points, 2.6 assists and shot 37.3% from 3.
Returning to ETSU will be an option.
