I’m sure they’ll both get some duties, along with a point forward helping them out. That’s the positive of Jackson, he can be a combo.
Did you see it from NWB his freshman or sophomore years? I saw notably more pg in Jackson than we ever saw in Wigginton and DJ, and Jackson was a freshman without the preparation of those two. He reminded me some of Custer, who likely would have stayed if on a roster with just two other guards, no true pgs, and only bringing in acgrad transfer shooting guards/combo
rewatching some games from this season. Jackson is going to be an elite defender for the next 3 years even if he doesn't figure his shot out at this level.
Sucks about Kier. That's one I really wanted for us and thought maybe prohm could get us off the snide
NWB wasn't here as a fr so its tough to say, as a soph he played behind some of the best players in the history of the program so his role was totally different when he finally saw the floor for extended minutes. As a jr, he only played PG because he had to, remember, UW Milwaukee with Donovan at PG..yikes.He was never an ideal PG but he could get away with it because he was surrounded by guys who could score. Even in 17/18 he had LW and Donovan, two really good offensive players. The other two you compared him to weren't PG's either, both struggled in that role so idk why you bring them up.
I think Jackson could be a band aid in the PG role IF we had other guys around him who could score. If we don't bring those guys in, Prohm will give the job to Bolton, like we saw this season when Tyrese went down. I think if Prohm has scorers, he wants a PG to distribute and manage the game, if not, like we saw with Rasir last year, he'll ask his best guard to handle that role and build the offense around them and the high ball screen.
1.) I was always high on NWB as a pg. There was talk about NWB being a pg from Prohm well before Milwaukee game!
2.) Given you’re desire to diminish NWB as a pg, I think we’re just viewing what constitutes a (good) pg very differently. You don’t think Jackson being surrounded by better players would have made him better? If you’re using that as a way to diminish NWB, you need to use that as a reason why Jackson is better than what it cursorily seems now. Nearly every pg needs good players and scorers around them!
3.) You’re the one that compared him to DJ! I’m saying your comparison is poor. Jackson has shown more as a pg, despite less preparation to do so.
Gotta think there’s a “days since last commit counter” somewhere on the walls on the east end of the Sukup.
I like the idea of immediately eligible transfers, but it will probably end up ruining college basketball and just lead to “Super Teams” like the NBA has been.
