But if they make the call on Ginobili then Webber and a lot of the media would have pulled a 180 and claimed that it was a play-on moment this late in the game. Officials can't please everyone with these calls. I'm not saying they were right in not calling one but I don't necessarily buy it being wrong that they didn't either.
I'd rather have the refs err on the right side of the rule, "playing on" be damned. NBA refs (well, all refs) have a tough and largely thankless job, and there is no way to please everyone. But their job is to enforce the rules of the game, and if they saw a foul or violation during that final sequence last night then they should have called it.
Seeing your avatar reminded me of something else that happened at the end of the game. Adams fell into the first couple rows of fans going after Mills's three pointer from the corner. It was a great hustle play by him to get a hand up and contest the shot. Anyway, as he was trying to get up and back onto the court a fan grabbed his arm in what looked like an attempt to keep him from rejoining play. I hope that fan is identified and banned from future Spurs games. The league can't have another Malice in the Palace. They were lucky that it was a player like Adams who knew not to retaliate. If it had been a hothead or a player with a reputation for having a short fuse that could have been so much worse.
