Obnoxious neighbor dog

Is this story supposed to be cool?

Why would it be cool? It's not like they were being decent about it. People passing out on the lawn, parking in people's yards, screaming drunk, blasting their (outdoor) stereo at 4 am. They were being a terrible neighbor, and it was either that or move (not to mention, dude was over 40, and most of the people over there getting drunk were 18-24 year olds).

Our Malamute had developed the ****** habit of barking for attention at 3 am for the past couple of months. I figured she was restless and made it a point to walk her more and farther than normal but it didn’t matter. I tried using a bark collar but her fur is too thick for the prongs to make solid contact with the skin.

Last Friday we got one of the anti bark devices and set it up for the night. The dog barked once and came running into the bedroom, laid down on the floor and didn’t make another noise the rest of the night. Rinse and repeat ever since then. So I’d highly recommend it, and I was a complete skeptic prior. They make outdoor models with higher ranges as well.

The problem is there are so many dog owners that do not understand the commitment a pet is. They buy them as cute puppies and within a month regret their purchase and ignore their dog, which then forces others to deal with their laziness.

Or even worse, many pet owners that live in apartments / housing complexes do no research before buying their dog. They end up purchasing a sporting dog / working dog breed with no thought on how much activity these dogs need to be healthy or engaged. They think bringing their lab out to the farm twice a year to shoot pheasants is enough exercise for the dog, when in reality that poor dog spends 99% of its lifetime in a confined space with little to no attention.
Dog problems are actually people problems.

I really like dogs, but can't stand most dog people.

I'm not talking about people who own dogs. I'm talking about those who think having a dog is a personality trait. I heard someone (carrying a dog) in Walmart once telling somebody else that Shmoopsie had to come with her because of 'separation anxiety' because she works 12 hours shifts. /RANT

I had some dipstick with a huge German Shephard live right above us in an apartment. Him and his girlfriend were completely clueless on how to care for a dog like that.

It would whine all day and then for exercise instead of simply taking it for a walk or the dog park they would play fetch with it inside all evening on the hardwood floors. So instead of a relaxing evening I got to listen to it pouncing on stuff all night.

I almost came to blows with this idiot after I had asked them nicely numerous times to keep it down. Eventually we had to switch apartments because it was so bad.

Then after we moved another moron moved in right across the hall with another big German Shephard, one night it was really bad timing as I was letting my dog out at the exact same time. This guys dog came inside my apartment trying to attack my dog before he coukd get it under control.

It's funny, I haven't seen one in my neighborhood which has nice big backyards and lots of area to walk dogs like that, but morons living inside 800 square foot apartments just have to get a dog like that.

Get a long garden hose and drill it with water every time you hear it. Sooner or later you just have to walk out and wave the squirted and it will shut up.

We have a "barker" for a puppy. We did some research and got a device where you give a command. If he keep barking, you press the first button which is just a normal beep. If he still insists you press the next button which is a very high pitch only dogs can hear. The first time we tried it, he cowered into the corner and stopped immediately. One or two more times and the simple command (we use the word quiet) and showing him the control with the buttons instantly makes him stop and he cowers away lol. Then we love him up quickly so he doesn't fear us.

It’s always best to just see if you can politely ask the neighbor to let the dog back in when it barks. If the neighbor responds poorly you have at least learned something.

Our dog before this puppy barked at everything that went by the house and the neighbors when they were out so we always just made him come in. He was barking one afternoon and some guy was trying to break into the neighbor’s garage so I called the cops. They found a lot of stolen tools in his truck. Neighbor had a new appreciation and called our old boy the neighborhood watch.

He donated to the local shelter in his name when he passed away.

I agree with the others and talk to the owner first. If the dog is barking at you when your out there try to make friends with it but understand that would only be if it barking at you.

My neighbor complained about our dog being at his place. Farm dog, he was loose. Our last one would stay around our place. Dog likes to explore too much obviously. I've known my neighbor all my life and we help each other. I was surprised he came over all pissy and said Dog was a stupid name for a dog so that was on his mind too. Maybe but Dog seems to likes it. Vet thinks its funny. I did get a little defensive but ended well. I thanked him and said I would keep a better eye on him and have.

Hopefully your neighbor works with you.

I think it is fitting that a dog named Dog has a owner named Frog.

Would this work on co-workers?

We have a neighborhood cat named Cat. Techs are the vet office keep asking for the name of the cat.

If someone had a car alarm that kept going off all the time, you'd fix it or get rid of it.
It's inconsiderate of your neighbor if he only throws his arm up in despair for his problem that disturbs his neighbors. Check with other neighbors if it is a problem with them. It's not great to "gang" up on the neighbor but he seems to not care he is causing a problem.

Let me start by saying my family loves dogs. We have adopted 3 Boxers over the years and treat them like our kids. Treating them like our kids means not letting them be ridiculous. If they were ever out of line we corrected it and our dogs are/were really well behaved.

The neighbors dog....lord. Its a German Shepherd mix with a very healthy bark. Problem is it wont EVER stop barking. I cant go in my backyard without it barking non-stop. No exaggerating. The neighbor is kind of a recluse so we dont really talk but he can see it annoys the hell out of me. He just throws up an arm and says sorry.

I feel like buying a bark collar and having it sent to their house. I cant be the only person to be annoyed with a neighbors pet/actions

My neighbors have five dogs. They seem to get a different dog every week but for some reason, their number remains at 5. I suspect that's because if they had 6, they would need a kennel license, per city ordinance.

These dogs love to bark at me. Get the mail, bark, bark. Go to the store, bark, bark. Get back from the store, bark, bark. Take the trash out, bark, bark. Get a delivery, bark, bark. All five of them.

But by far, their favorite activity is to chase me on the lawn mower. Luckily, there's a fence between me and them, but I still have to mow right up next to the fence and they chase me all along that fence, snapping at me. I fear some of the bigger dogs are big enough to jump right over the fence if they were smart enough to get a running start, but they're too stupid for that. But it's sure a joy to mow 120 feet down one side of my yard with snapping, snarling dogs following me all the way, literally close enough to be hit with flying spittle.

The neighbors see this madness every time I mow and do nothing about it. I actually complained to them about their dogs because their kennel or outdoor area where their food is because the whole backyard is their kennel, is right under my bedroom window. I've worked second shift my whole life, so I sleep in late until about 11 a.m. Now these neighbors have a garage and they put the dogs up in that when it gets too cold out and sometimes when it gets too hot.

We live across the street down a half a block from an elementary school, so when the kids start going to school at 7:30, 8 in the morning, these dogs bark at them until there are no more students coming. I went to complain to the neighbors about it, telling them about my work schedule and how I wished there was something they could do with their dogs until about 11 or so, and for about a week after that, they kept the dogs in the garage so I could sleep. It lasted a week and then they were right back at it, waking me up every morning. The only times I could sleep late was on weekends.

They got yet another new dog (still keeping the total at 5) who barked incessantly at nothing. It barked mostly at night. About 2 a.m. it started in one night and I laid there until 3 a.m. waiting for it to stop. It didn't. Finally, I'd had enough, got dressed and went over to knock on their door. The woman comes to the door rubbing sleep out of her eyes and I tell her that her dog has been barking nonstop for the past hour.

"Oh, is he bothering you? I couldn't hear him."

You couldn't hear him? Are you deaf? The neighbors blocks away could hear him. Thankfully, that dog didn't last long. It was replaced a few weeks later by another barker, although not as bad as him.

So that's it. In the 10-plus years I've lived here, I've complained about their dogs exactly twice and they bark every day at all hours of the day and night. I must be getting used to it though, because they very rarely wake me up anymore. But if I haven't gotten to sleep yet and they are barking, it's very hard for me to drop off until they quit.

Did he eat it? I never understand how people's dogs get so aggressive. My dog is so well behaved it's like he's a person.
All dogs are different having worked with rescues some dogs are just aggressive especially towards a smaller animal they consider prey.
