Let me start by saying my family loves dogs. We have adopted 3 Boxers over the years and treat them like our kids. Treating them like our kids means not letting them be ridiculous. If they were ever out of line we corrected it and our dogs are/were really well behaved.

The neighbors dog....lord. Its a German Shepherd mix with a very healthy bark. Problem is it wont EVER stop barking. I cant go in my backyard without it barking non-stop. No exaggerating. The neighbor is kind of a recluse so we dont really talk but he can see it annoys the hell out of me. He just throws up an arm and says sorry.

I feel like buying a bark collar and having it sent to their house. I cant be the only person to be annoyed with a neighbors pet/actions

We had this same problem with a German Shepherd next door for the last 2 years and luckily they moved a couple months ago. The new neighbor likes to do outdoor projects and mow his lawn at 9:45pm on weeknights. You can't win.

Does it live outside? If so, could you submit a complaint to the city as a noise complaint?

We've dealt with this in our neighborhood in the past. Look up your county code (e.g. GOOGLE: "Whatever County Code enforcement dogs barking"). Chances are there is something about barking dogs being a nuisance. Send an email to your county code enforcement officer. They may be willing to stop by the house and issue a violation notice.

When we were looking at houses, we found one we really liked, I looked out the window and saw the neighbors had a large dog that was barking constantly - we passed on that house because of the dog.

Or you could, you know - talk to your neighbor before sending them a code violation.

There are tons of sonic anti bark deterrents on Amazon. For $30 your problem will go away and your neighbor will never know what is causing it.
Ehhh... those are pretty hit and miss. In fact, I would say mostly miss. Depends on the dog. Some dogs will bark more.

usually the people that just leave their dog outside to bark arent going to suddenly start training their dog to be quiet. Most likely the dog was bothering them inside so the just put it outside where its not as loud.

My neighbor has two dogs and one of them stands and barks at the back fence the whole time he is outside. I thought the dog had some sort of issues until we found out our back yards back up to a wooded area in town that has some coyotes so I'll give a little pass on the barking.

Is a privacy fence an option? Assuming you're staying a while
That isn't necessarily a fix. Our neighbor has a small dog. They have a 6' privacy fence but it will start barking if it is out and it hears us. They are really good neighbors and will quiet the dog and/or take it inside so it isn't an issue, but the point remains that the privacy fence isn't a surefire solution.

We had other neighbors 2 doors down that had a dog that would bark constantly whenever it was outside and anyone came outside and wouldn't stop as long as they were out. Luckily it was mostly an inside dog and they didn't stay in the neighborhood very long.
