No Bowl Game — Iowa State Turns Down Bowl Bid

Well…that’s ONE source. It’s too bad for the players if true. Of course we have no idea about what is rumbling behind the scenes right now that could lead to this decision.
How do we know the players aren’t the ones that decided this? If enough players told Jimmy they intended to transfer and wouldn’t play in a bowl game, that decided it right there.

WSU gave up 59 points in back to back weeks.

I see you didn’t mention that.
Early in the season with new team and new coach. I see you chose to ignore that.

Ole Miss average points per game 38
James Madison 38 per game
Virginia 33 points per game

WSU gave up 24,24 and 22 respectively

Any comment?

People are mad about this, but the same people who are mad were not even going to go to the bowl game anyways.

Let's be honest, after how this season went, plus thousands of fans spending thousands of dollars earlier this year to go to Ireland, plus the fact that we probably would've been playing in a game the day after Christmas, do we really think we would've had a good showing there, regardless if Matt was still here or not?
I don't think you have to actually attend the bowl game to be mad about the team not playing in a bowl game. Respectfully don't get your take at all.

“There's a kind of freedom in being completely screwed... because you know things can't get any worse.”
Are we “completely screwed yet,” or is that still coming?

This pisses me off. It’s about the experience of a bowl game, winning is secondary. If you can field a team you should play. Sounds like they are putting it on the players but I can’t imagine they weren’t heavily influenced by the athletics department

Or a chance at 9 wins!

But we've got the Washington State coach.
Hey now.

For some (of the younger) people here hiring the HC from Wazzu may be a once in a lifetime event.

Edit: I am actually optimistic about Rogers.

If this where college football is headed, then **** it. I'll watch the NFL.
As crazy as it sounds, and I never thought I would ever say this, but the NFL has more stability than what the college game has. You definitely don’t have these wholesale changeouts like we are seeing, and unfortunately, experiencing.

To me, the single biggest challenge in all of this is how do we as fans, alumni, etc. continue to go along with this? I get that we are more about what’s on the front of the jersey, but man, that is getting tested right now in this world where talent and coaches appear to be very transactional commodities and not loyal to much of anything, especially the school, which appears to be at or near the bottom of that list.

I’ll be curious how much, if at all, Campbell comments on the aftermath in Ames during his Ped St acceptance presser.

He won’t. He’ll say thanks to Iowa State for the opportunity and move on

Disappointed, but glad the players had a voice in the matter.
If they don't want to play, then it is better to not play.
Let's Go State!

I agree, but Campbell is going to have a mix of 5-stars there as well. Wouldn’t surprise me one bit they do really well in year 1.
They will, if PSU also doesn’t lose half their players to the portal.

Do we get some NIL money back from each player and Salary back from each coach that quit on Iowa State. That is what this is, players and coaches who took money to play football games now refusing to coach or play the football game.

This is bull ****.

My donation and tickets prices better not increase next year. Get's harder and harder to justify my families dollars to coaches and players who do not really give a **** about the fans or school for that matter.

End rant.
Totally agree. The lack of accountability and regulations on NIL is negligible.
