No Bowl Game — Iowa State Turns Down Bowl Bid

Quick shout out to CMCs PR team! Left for an institution that covered for pedos, gonna take our top players and coaches, leaving us with no players for a bowl, and hardly anyone seems to be posting their anger at him. Talk about winning in the dark!

It might have made people feel better if Mouser had been given a chance. However, is it even reasonable to think he might have accepted. It seems more likely to me that Mouser wanted to stay with Campbell no matter what.

He didn't deserve a chance!!!

I was on the phone with Conner Thursday night as this was all going down and he was texting Mouse. He kept saying he hoped Mouse got the job and I flat out told him Mouse had no business being the new head coach.

Then when I texted him friday night to tell him we hired Jimmy Rogers I could tell he was devastated.

I would have wanted the team to meet with Rogers before you let them make that decision. That isn't hard to understand.
why were you claiming the players meeting went badly?

I’ll be curious how much, if at all, Campbell comments on the aftermath in Ames during his Ped St acceptance presser.
"The situation in Ames is in the details, margins and execution. Next question please."

This might be it anyway, I am pretty sure the dark version of disclosure is coming in July but who really knows.

WSU gave up 59 points in back to back weeks.

I see you didn’t mention that.
Their Total Defense was also ranked way higher than ours too.... so there's that. Top 20 defense in the nation.

Their offense, however, was no bueno.

The fact that Matt's contract only had a $2 million buyout in it is on Matt... not JP. Matt wanted it that low, so another school would come in and get him out of here.

Was JP supposed to demand it be way higher... and then Matt walks?
Exactly

People are mad about this, but the same people who are mad were not even going to go to the bowl game anyways.

Let's be honest, after how this season went, plus thousands of fans spending thousands of dollars earlier this year to go to Ireland, plus the fact that we probably would've been playing in a game the day after Christmas, do we really think we would've had a good showing there, regardless if Matt was still here or not?

I think it would have been easier for JP to sell “anyone who only wants a 2 million dollar buy out in their contract has one foot out the door anyway”
Um, when it came out multiple media reported on that exact contract provision. Was Pollard supposed to fire his head football coach who brought more success to the program in 10 years than the rest of the program's history combined?

This is the reality of the Big 12 now. The Power 5 turned to 4 turned to 2. We used to kind of be at the party at a side table while Texas and OU were bellied up to the bar. Now we aren't even at the same location as the party. Some schools have billionaires who can flaunt their money in the open now as opposed to under the table like it used to be. We aren't on that list.

What a ****ing disaster. This program is gonna crater harder than the 90s like the last time we hired a coach from Washington State. EVERYONE IS LEAVING. We’ll have a roster of nobodies and walkons. 2025 will officially be the last time we beat Iowa in football. No hope. End the series. JFC.
My god, man. Get a grip.

"a roster of nobodies and walkons?" Sounds like an Iowa State team already. Sign me the **** up.

The 2 million buyout wasn't Jamie's fault. But I would have argued to Matt that any school that wanted him would have paid a 5 million buyout.

Even you people who have let anger cloud your assessment of Campbell’s achievements must now admit it.

He has brought the Cyclones to levels previously unimaginable that we may never see again

Who could have ever predicted lowly Iowa State would one day be in a position of turning down a bowl invitation?!?

Or a chance at 9 wins!

But we've got the Washington State coach.
