Doubt the BiG will allow their teams to play OOC games. 75% of their conference is hot garbage.
If you're a 5th year senior and have any aspirations of playing in the NFL, you have to turn pro. I'd be stunned if across the country you saw more than a handful of 5th years take another year of school who had any hope of playing in the NFL.

Weedon was also in the Heisman race until he met ISU. It does matter but if you are one of the top couple at your position the NFL is going to overlook age. Anything can be overcome you just have to make up for it elsewhere to be taken.
that's a weird comparison but...do you realize how many millions of dollars he lost because he started in the league so late? Even as a bust of a first round pick, he would have stuck around the league for a decade as a backup if he started in the NFL at 22 rather than 28.
Well, he did play baseball straight out of high school, which is the reason he entered college so late. Still doesn't make up for potential money lost in the NFL, as I don't believe he was ever called up to the majors (honestly I get confused how all the baseball stuff works regarding getting drafted but playing in farm leagues, etc etc).
What he made in baseball has no bearing on the example because the seniors he is being compared to this year do not have pro baseball contracts. It was about how these players may need to look at going pro now rather than waiting another year.
The Weedon example might have some applicability to Purdy if he were a senior but not to Bailey or Eisworth or White or Soehner or any other senior on the team. Kickers and QBs are about the only positions with that much of a track record of players being able to effectively play up to and into their 40s. The shelf life of players who need speed and to a lesser extent power in their games is much shorter.
Dont be surprised if Iowa State is a possible landing spot for some high profile immediately eligible transfers this offseason.
I think a few will stay but most will move on. If you have a shot at playing in the NFL, I doubt staying back another year is going to improve your stock any and you will endure another year of wear on your body, so you would probably just enter the draft. A lot of the other guys will just decide it is time to graduate and be done playing football - college football is a huge commitment and a grind and by the time you do it 4-5 years most are ready to move on to the next stage in life.
The only reason that I can see is if you're going for a graduate degree for a non-football career path. Might as well play another year and get that for free. Anyone with pro aspirations would have made their mark by now. Another year just makes you another year older in the NFL's mind.

Any seniors who get some good NFL feedback would likely leave. There may also be some who are just ready to move on with their life. And maybe some who can’t get enough of this team and want to go on the ride next year being Pre-Season Top 10.

TE is the one position that I would like to have one come back. Experience while the others develop. Although we did get 43 some serious reps last game but he’s not 6 7 like the other three.
