Dont be surprised if Iowa State is a possible landing spot for some high profile immediately eligible transfers this offseason.

I honestly can’t see the need.

Tight end? I think Kolar probably comes back, and that’s enough to anchor the youngsters.

Corner? Either Datrone Young or Tayvonn Kyle are going to put it all together next season—or T.J. Tampa is going to grab a starting spot.

Safety? They have a whole heck of a lot of talent already coming back and signed/committed, to build around Isheem Young. Mason Chambers is currently expressing a strong interest in one of the spots.

Wideout? I suppose that’s a possibility, perhaps the most likely, but I also think that someone like Joe Scates, Darien Porter or Aidan Bitter explodes next year. What you really want to add is a big play guy.

And in most cases, kids more talented than the ones we’ve already got aren’t going to be grad transferring.

Of course, this staff is likely to prove me wrong.

Why would a high end tackle who is old enough to graduate to transfer and play right way not just turn pro right away?

That's the conundrum when looking at the grad transfer market. You can find good players in that market but generally not elite players. Russell Wilson is the exception not the rule.

A lot of you may not remember what happened with Tyler Catalina a few years back. He transferred to Iowa State after a successful career at Rhode Island only to decommit at some point in the summer and finish his career at Georgia. He was a fringe NFL player who wanted a shot at the highest level.

Listen, I know we have some good young talent coming through the ranks on the offensive line but if a 22 year old 6'6" 320 pound fringe NFL Tyler Catalina type of player wants to come block next to Trevor Downing next year and clear holes for Breece Hall you let him come and compete for job.

If the coaching staff feels like we have some young horses in the stable and dont feel there will be anything better on the transfer market that is great! Just saying offensive tackle is one of the few spots on the roster they may consider exploring.

Yeah, we had a oline grad transfer back out to play at UGA and a UNC safety not show up due to unknown issues. Pretty sure the kid from this year didn't play anywhere. So I ask, what exactly is the point you are trying to make?

How DARE I suggest that the staff would consider bringing in a 5th year transfer to compete with Ramos and Treiber at the tackle position when they are both young and unproven with their combined one start and all. All I said is offensive tackle could be a spot to pursue a grad transfer and you tore into it. The staff has shown they won't hesitate to pursue a transfer if they feel they can upgrade the two-deep at a certain position group. Plain and simple. What is the point you are trying to make???

Again, if the staff loves what they have waiting in the wings hey I am all for it. Analyzing the roster for next year offensive tackle may be one of the spots with the least amount of returning experience though.

Like all of them he's a smart kid. Maybe football isn't his future. I just picked the two that on the surface have the most to gain.

Maybe a little early for this topic, but the CFP ranking thread brought this to my mind. Would ESPN bring GameDay back for the CyHawk game next year? Pending how this season finishes, both teams will likely be ranked with Iowa State possibly being top 10 and Iowa not far behind. Hell, if both teams win out this year, it may be an early top 10 matchup. Would be a hard game to pass on.

I'd rather see them come up for a B12 game, Hawk fans are douche enough having them for game day only acerbates the situation.

TE is the one position that I would like to have one come back. Experience while the others develop. Although we did get 43 some serious reps last game but he’s not 6 7 like the other three.

We are just fine in TE even if all three leave. Loving-Black and Dean are supposed to be studs. Jared Rus #43 looks the part to fill in the fullback/H-back position.
