I think this is a game we can get if the team can shake this one off, stay fresh, and remain focused. Baylor is super talented, but they haven't played very well as a team so far this season and I think they're ripe for the picking on Saturday night. I hope the building is electric and is packed, it'll help the team out a lot!!

LaceDarius Dunn is their main threat, and thankfully he's a guard. Hopefully Jake can slow him down. Acy and Perry Jones are solid post players, but they aren't really bangers - more like athletic tall freaks. I think we match up better with Baylor than we did with Kansas, not just because of talent and such, but because our strengths match up pretty well with theirs IMO.

I think we can do it, so show up and make a difference. Go Cyclones!!

Zone is a concern. If Scotty or JVB can get hot (or Scotty can get healthy), we can have a really nice win.

If not, we can still win this thing.
The zone will be a non-issue if we drive to collapse the zone and kick out or get some ball movement around the outside instead of trying to iso against it.

ISU still has the unbeaten-at-Hilton streak vs. Baylor, correct?

I'm not big into the inflated importance of streaks, but if nothing else, this would be as good a time as any to enter the Big 12 win column. I think Baylor is beatable and ISU seems capable in this situation — especially after being within striking distance in the previous two games.

We're definitely beatable. I hate that we still have this streak. Should be a good game.

As is often quoted or paraphrased from Johnny Orr, "You gotta have the horses". I think this is another game where ISU will be "out-horsed", so, as with playing KU last night, it will take playing a nearly perfect game to beat Baylor. The guys came close against KU, so maybe they can pull it off against Baylor.

Baylor is a tougher one to predict. I think they make more mistakes than Kansas, but that zone will require us to have a good shooting night.

I think, though, that we can take this one.

Get this one, have whatever happens on the road next week, and then we see Texas Tech and Oklahoma come to Hilton. Obviously winnable games, and we're 3-4 (4-3?, probably 3-4) in conference play with a winning season guaranteed.

I think we're in decent shape for an undermanned bunch of guys.

No doubt "The Replacements" have really over-achieved. What this team lacks in skill and size they make up for in effort. First winning season in over 4 seasons, I'll take that under a first year coach.

Hard to bet against our guys. If they continue to give the outstanding effort that they have been, and keep their confidence up, their hard work will eventually pay dividends. Just the ability to be in every game is nothing short of amazing, and they will get their share of the close ones.

IMO the Baylor game is absolutely critical. With road games at OSU and at Mizzou coming up, this game is huge. Lose at home to Baylor and the bottom could fall out at Mizzou. Our guys are logging major minutes and have got be exhausted. 0-4 going into Mizzou with a tired team, playing against their style could be bad, really bad.

Beat Baylor!

Up Next: Baylor/Predictions

Baylor is a very solid team and has about everything you need. They have great out side shooting and down low play, but i'm thinking we get our first Big 12 win against the Bears.

ISU-78
BU-75

Crucial game if we want to have a shot at the NIT. I hope there's a good crowd at Hilton for it.

And I think we win in a fairly close game.

We'll have to shoot well and BU will need to have an off night for us to win. When I saw this year's schedule for the first time, I remember thinking I wish the BU and KU games were reversed because I thought we'd have a better chance against BU and if we won that game we would be even more pumped going into the KU game being 2-0. Now I'm afraid of the opposite, we lost a 2 tough ones in a row and we'll be flat against BU because of it. Hopefully we can keep fighting, keep it close and then figure out how to win one of these close conference games at the end.
