I like the JT stripes on the shoulder. I don't like them on the pants. Would rather see plain unornamented pants.

had someone PM me about doing the helmet with the ISTATE stencil and new swirl logo as pride stickers:

I think the cyclone helmet goes better with the Trice stripes, but if we need to have I-State on the helmet I'd still take this uni over our current usc model in a heartbeat.

I think it's been a blast to view all of these concepts and honestly there isn't one that I'd be disappointed with....they're all pretty damn awesome. If I were to choose my favorite (and that's not easy), I'd probably go with the one I included. Love the colors, the stripes on the helmet/pants, and the Trice stripes being incorporated on the sleeve. This concept is classy and sharp but most importantly it's unique and the look that Iowa State should have every time they take the field. We could finally put an end to the "USC rip-off" comments.

I really think it's time for the funnel to be re-introduced as our secondary logo and it definitely needs to be part of our helmet from my personal standpoint. It's who we are. This uniform states "Make no mistake, we are Iowa State"

Ditto. I think we have a winner for the home uniform. I like how the pant stripes match the helmet.

JT stripes are a unique touch which is important in designing a fresh look. One wonders if athletic departments, particularly coaches, ever pay attention to work like this?

What I like most is the return to ISU's traditional look.

Ha. Like we have one. Our "tradition" should be a continuously changing look.

The Jack Trice throwback uniforms were a failure for these reasons:

a) The actual jersey colors were yellow with gray stripes. http://www.kagavi.com/jack-trices-lost-jersey/
b) The required white numbers on the front of the jersey ruined everything.
c) We wasted them for a game that no one cared about outside the state of Iowa in a disgraceful performance when we should have used them against Texas in a prime time game so that a national audience would have been exposed to Jack's story.

The Trice stripes on the pants look a little out of place for some reason (maybe they're too thin?). What about just solid color pants but with the I-State or Cyclone emblem on the waist?

Let me begin by saying I like the JT stripes.

However, with the red/white/red strips on the helmet and pants, the JT stripes on the jersey seem out of place.

In short, I just don't think the separate pieces go together when the JT stripes are thrown in...unless you use a different helmet design.

What he said. Mixing different types of stripes does look strange to me and seems out of place.

Ps the helmet with the I-state and then pride stickers looks very cool.

This makes a lot of sense. I think best case for me would be: solid helmet with funnel logo, trice stripe jersey, and solid pants with the I-State logo on the hip or trice stripe pants (with stripes from the bottom and with or without I-State logo on hip).

Another interesting idea would be to have a solid helmet, with just a Trice stripe decal on the very back of the helmet. Not like an alternative to a helmet stripe, but a decal of equal proportions as the Trice stripe on the shoulder.

I think the risk with the Trice strips is flirting with the line between creating a unique and classic look and be gimmicky.

Spent a little while yesterday with the lady that manages the University Book Store. She said the #1 request they get from fans and alums is stuff with Walking Cy on it. Sure, it's my favorite, but just sayin'...

I like some of your suggestions, but I really like the funnel helmet with Trice jersey and trice pants, which all seems to go together well. The helmet may or may not need to have stripes. If it does, then stripes on the pants instead of the Trice strips would probably tie into it best. But I don't think it's close to being gimmicky to try to get our own identity nationally. We have a unique name in cyclones and a unique and inspirational story behind our stadium name, and I think we're really blowing it by not taking advantage of that uniqueness for the football program any way we can, and the football uniform is a great way to do it imo. But I have a feeling this will all only be chat room talk and not much will change, and we'll be back to our old usc lookalikes. Hope I'm wrong.

If a new coach comes along, we'll get a new look. Probably nothing major will change as long as Rhoads is here. At least we don't have the ridiculous blue and blender bird anymore. The funnel logo & walking Cy definitely need to make a comeback. Put the funnel on the helmet & use the block I-STATE as the midfield logo. Save the Jack Trice uniform stuff for the 100 year anniversary- in fact wear them for every game that season. However- he's all over the stadium & football center already. There is such a thing as over-saturation.

Something I'd like to see would be the state of Iowa outlining our logos at midfield & on the court. AIB east isn't using it- why aren't we?

The Jack Trice throwbacks got started that way so there is hope.

I read here, as I do on many forums and rarely post, but finally have to add my 2 cents.
I absolutely cant stand the white helmet idea, so boring, and too many other schools have that look, plus is just a reminder of what Chiz wanted.
I think the yellow helmet above, with the funnel is the best design we have ever had, you could do multiple designs with the I state logo as well, just using the yellow helmet. I see very very few teams using yellow helmets and I think they are sharp and stand out from the crowd and give us some identity. We could easily rotate between red and yellow, as some schools change, but I think the yellow is the way to go. Look through the helmets of all the college programs out there you wont find many yellow ones but you will find a lot of white and red ones.
The logo on the side is up for debate, I have seen many different designs and I like many of them from the simple classic, to the modern look. All look sharp to me on a yellow helmet.
That's my 2 cents
