The only reason I say "red and yellow" is because some people take gold as that hideous Notre Dame gold we had a few years

I read here, as I do on many forums and rarely post, but finally have to add my 2 cents.
I absolutely cant stand the white helmet idea, so boring, and too many other schools have that look, plus is just a reminder of what Chiz wanted.
I think the yellow helmet above, with the funnel is the best design we have ever had, you could do multiple designs with the I state logo as well, just using the yellow helmet. I see very very few teams using yellow helmets and I think they are sharp and stand out from the crowd and give us some identity. We could easily rotate between red and yellow, as some schools change, but I think the yellow is the way to go. Look through the helmets of all the college programs out there you wont find many yellow ones but you will find a lot of white and red ones.
The logo on the side is up for debate, I have seen many different designs and I like many of them from the simple classic, to the modern look. All look sharp to me on a yellow helmet.
That's my 2 cents

People only want the white helmet as an alternate. No one wants the white helmet as a full time helmet. 1 or 2 games a year max.

To me a white helmet would be like adding having a "blue" helmet. And we all know how everyone feels about adding the blue color. stick with "Cardinal and Gold"

So only white helmets for away games then? So like a white out? to match our away uniforms? Still think it would look lousy. white is not a color, it is a buffer or background. Our colors are Cardinal and Gold, not Cardinal, Gold and White. But then we could go for the look of Texas, Auburn, Arizona, Wisconsin, Penn St, Nebraska etc. etc.. thats My point, Can anyone name more than a team or two with Cyclone Gold helmets in the FBS? I can only come up with a couple with alternates that are. White looks like Chiz's Texas and Auburn wannabes.

I'm incorporating the Earl Bruce era jersey design here. IMO, the white helmet only works with the all white look- which I think looks FANTASTIC. The logo "pops" on a white background.

This to me looks fantastic! I think it would be hard to get the Athletic department to go back to that logo but I still love it. Wish they would bring it back, would love to have some decals of it. Very classic and simple, like has been discussed like some of the most popular logos out there, would be very recognizable and indistinguishable. But I like the IState logo on this uniform and helmet design too.

I think it's been a blast to view all of these concepts and honestly there isn't one that I'd be disappointed with....they're all pretty damn awesome. If I were to choose my favorite (and that's not easy), I'd probably go with the one I included. Love the colors, the stripes on the helmet/pants, and the Trice stripes being incorporated on the sleeve. This concept is classy and sharp but most importantly it's unique and the look that Iowa State should have every time they take the field. We could finally put an end to the "USC rip-off" comments.

I really think it's time for the funnel to be re-introduced as our secondary logo and it definitely needs to be part of our helmet from my personal standpoint. It's who we are. This uniform states "Make no mistake, we are Iowa State"

Haven't looked at he whole thread, but this looks good! I do think we prob need a slighly new identity w/ the football team, some kind of change we can put our finger on. Personally I'm OK w/ our current uni, but I like this better. White? / Cardinal? / Gold? color question... Seems to me you maybe satisfy everyone to some degree) w/ the classic White helmet stripe, and white pant stripe. So there you go!

So yeah, I know what the next argument from the haters will be - "Gray isn't one of ISU's colors."

Guess what color a freaking tornado in the real world is: gray. Plus cardinal and gold looks awesome on dark gray.
